Okay, so I have been on DK for about 2 months now, and I LOVE it, but ever since my life has been CRAZY...  From rescuing(the good part) to Bandit being sick (the very bad part) to dog sitting RUBY (the WTD part) I mean the last few weeks...whooaa can you say REALITY TV??  So here is the next episode(s) Yesterday I get a call from doggie daycare, the first day they have been back since Bandit's illness, and Bandit had been whining and crying really loud and then he wouldn't stop shaking.  So I tear out of work at 3 and pick him up, come home, both doods go to sleep and then I get a text that Ruby's mom is back in the hospital, they need me to feed Ruby let her out, but don't worry about taking her.  So I text all evening back and forth with them and our dogsitter  that Bandit is sick, don't think it's a good idea for Ruby to stay over, so I arrange for our dogsitter to stay overnight at their house a plan came together no biggie.  So I go to work...then I get a text that Ruby's mom is being induced so I need to take her to the Bed & Biscuit to stay.  So over my lunch I pick Ruby up at daycare, drive her to the bed & biscuit and go back to work.  At 2:30 my phone rings and it is my neighbor saying something is wrong at your house, there is water coming out of your garage.  All I can think is OMG Rosey and Bandit the are home!  There is a flood and they are in their room in the basement!  So I high tail it, running out of the office, drive REALLY fast home, thinking my babies are drowning or swimming or jumping onto everything to avoid the water, actually Rosey probably would like and indoor pool:)...  So I get home and sure enough there is a HUGE amount of water seeping from the garage I open it and it is RAINING in my garage.  I fly threw the doors and see my furry little monsters, THEY ARE FINE!!! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!!!  So I fly upstairs and in the master bath under the sink the hot water valve broke and water had been gushing for HOURS.  There was a 1/2 inch of standing water in our bedroom, the bathroom drawers were full of water, water water EVERYWHERE.  So my neighbor came over, our house is 100 years old and with a boiler system and I have no clue how to shut off the main water, Called DH and he told me.. Water OFF!  So then I called insurance, the SERVICE and guys were here all afternoon and into the evening. Over 1500 gallons of water they sucked up so far!   All the dry wall has to come out of the garage, they have pulled up our carpet in the BR and are trying to dry it, all of our BR furniture is in the family room, they will have to rip out all the tile and the vanity in the master bedroom... And that is all I know so far... So if you all are really watching out there, get some more popcorn and a drink, because I think we have a full season ahead of us!!!  Anyone want to sign up for commercials???

Thankyou DK, I needed some excitement in my life:)

Suzann,

We had a house fire a few years ago. Ended up living in a hotel for 6+ months while my kitchen was gutted, carpets pulled, and we sorted through various things ruined by smoke. It didn't spread past the kitchen BUT smoke is corrosive and does damage even when the fire didn't make it there. Thanks to central air -- the smoke permeated the house. BUT lemonade out of lemons -- we did a few upgrades by adding our money to insurance money. Why not, right? How often do you get a chance to switch from carpet to tile for half the price!

So did they call Servpro? I know they are huge for pulling up water. They handled storing our stuff and the clean up.

Something I did learn is to PUSH to make sure you get as much as you deserve, and that insurance pays for stuff to be fixed correctly. Make friends with your assigned adjuster :) I emailed my adjuster all the time and kept every email. It ended up saving me several thousand dollars because I did this. Take pictures of things. Inventory what was lost/damaged. Include damage to wood exposed to the water. (moldings, furniture, etc) Take pictures of things being packed up and put into storage -- if a third party company is doing it -- some things of ours were damaged between moving them back and forth. List every little insignificant item that was ruined by the water -- you would be amazed how little things add up. I ended up with several hundred dollars from make up that was in a drawer.

I can understand how you're feeling, it's probably at least partly shock from it all. I am so glad your babies were okay. They say things happen in threes? Surely this is three?? The universe certainly owes you a major karma payback!
WOW! I know we've had a dry summer but did you have to help out this way?!?!? :) You are never given more than you can handle and you are one very strong lady - but I still hope this string of drama is over for you so you can sit back and let the world go by for a little bit just enjoying Rosey, Bandit and DH. (I'm just a little jealous - our master bathroom has been on the list to redecorate for a while now!)
All I can say is thank good for Rosey and Bandit because think how much worse a day like this be without 2 sweet little Doodles to curl up with at the end of the day for some well deserved TLC. Wishing you better days ahead.
First of all, you are a truly amazing friend and neighbor. They are so lucky to have all your help...was the baby born and is everything okay? I can only imagine how scared you were when you thought Rosey and Bandit might have been in danger...thank goodness they were fine (and you didn't get a speeding ticket). You might want to talk to your Insurance Adjuster about replacing versus drying the bedroom rug. You don't want to run into any situations with "mold" (and mold can be a real problem with flooding situations like this), and they have an obligation to restore your things to their original condition and value....if you have replacement cost coverage on your policy there should be no question about getting a new rug. It sounds like you're taking all this in stride....it's great that you can see the humor in all of it. Please know you have LOTS of friends here on DK who are here to support you. You're right, it could be a reality show.
And Bandit, any reason for his shaking, is he okay today? Poor little guy.

I feel for you, be prepared to have large "drying" fans in your home for days - a pipe broke under our kitchen sink and it flooded the kitchen, into the dining room and through the floor to our unfinished part of the basement, unfortunately it was our STORAGE area and everything in there was ruined. This happened in the middle of the night and at 4 in the morning I heard water gushing in my dream (or so I thought), it was only for a couple of hours...our house was 3 years old at the time - plain old poor workmanship!

All that being said you will get through it and everything will be fine. The best part, your 4 legged babies are perfectly fine.

SMILE and keep on entertaining us with your life stories - I don't need soap operas now that I am on DoodleKisses.
What a time you're having!! Way to keep your sense of humor through it. Your family is good, the furry monsters are good...the rest of it's just stuff (great big pain in the tush stuff!)
What a nightmare. I hope things calm down soon!
Glad the doods are okay....
I'm happy that everyone is OK after reading everything that you've been going through. I hope things calm down for you soon, although that may not happen if you now have to go through some remodeling.
Suzann, It sounds like you are starring in a really bad comedy. Have you seen the movie, The Money Pit? It seems that you may be doing the sequel. All I can say is that you are one strong lady, if this were me I'd probably be locked up in a rubber room somewhere.
Just be sure to get extra doodle hugs, take nice deep breaths and repeat this mantra "This too shall pass". Here's hoping and wishing for you, the doodles and your family only good things from here on. Doodle hugs to Rosey, Bandit and you. Here's a little saying that might apply to you a little. "As I sat one day sad and all alone, I heard a voice say "Cheer up, things could be worse" so I cheered up and sure enough things got worse". :>)
Thank you all for the kind comments, moral support and ADVICE! Service Master is here and doing what they can to DRY things out, it seems like that is a lot more work than just ripping and starting over but they said that is the process. We are prepared that it will be many weeks before things are back to normal...if there is such a thing;)
No word on baby delivery. So I hope all is going well there. Bandit is acting normal at the moment, so we will take that as a good sign.. More to come on the next episode of ...wait... I don't know the name of my own show!!
Oh my goodness.... what a crazy stretch you have had lately! Aren't you glad you have those precious doodles to come home to :o)
And somewhere up there or down below someone is saying this too shall pass, and it will, but you are handling the going thru it part very well...And thank goodness the doodles were ok, the rest of the stuff will be fixed or replaced, lives can't be replaced...BUT on the other hand, maybe we should submit this to one of the TV channels for a reality show. I say lets name it, and go from there. Lets hope that this is the end of this nightmare for you...Have a good glass of wine, get a good book, cuddle with your hubby and doodles, and just keep on going...Jugs and good thoughts going out to you from your friends here in florida....Cheryl, Oliver & Renny
