DH and I are always saying that with all of these big ole empty building sitting around because of the bad economy, it seems like someone would think about opening an Indoor Dog Park! The winter months here are terrible for getting exercise when the weather is so terrible. When the girls were puppies I struggled to find ways to get rid of all that energy! Well, just this week I saw an article where someone in Cincinnati has taken the plunge and it is even on my side of town. Costs $5 per visit and is just a big indoor play area where you go and play with your dog. They also daycare etc! Look forward to checking it out once the weather gets sloppy and unbearably cold!
That's fantastic. We have one in our area, and it's great in the bad weather. I only take my guys when the "play times" are supervised by a trainer. I get a little nervous of all those dogs together inside otherwise. It's a real treat for Guinness & Murph. Ours was closed for the Summer and will be reopening soon...my guys can't wait.
I'm SO jealous! I kept trying to find an indoor play place this summer (opposite problem - too hot for Callie to really play well). Such a good idea!!!
That is a great idea! I personally never would have thought of that - aren't you the creative one? I can't believe that idea hasn't caught on to more areas, I am looking forward to hearing how you like it. To bad we are in Akron its to far of a drive for us :-(
Heather - Are you talking about Unleashed? I just saw online that it closed. There was a big spread on it a year ago in BARK mag. The place was unbelievable!! It was like 10 million to build or something...
Where is it and what is the name? I don't think that I'm on your side of town, but it might we worth the trip during the cold, dark months. I haven't heard anything about it yet.
Here is their website. Indoor part open in November. They are around Eastgate Mall. Haven't been there yet, so not sure what everything looks like, but might stop by and see it one of these afternoons that I'm down that way. I'll let you know if I go check it out! My girls aren't big on large groups of dogs, but I'm sure there will come some days this winter where I'll do anything to get them so exercise.
I wish we had one of those here in Florida where we are, it is always too hot in the summer to really let them run, and now that the weather is finally getting nice, they will get out more, but summer heat is too much here for either human or dog to be running around...
