Seamus has a habit of "sharing" his bone with us....especially on the special occasions when we give him a rawhide. He splits it up into 2 pieces usually and 1 piece goes to my husband and 1 piece goes to me. He puts it on the couch next to us or on our laps and walks away to lay down. Anyone else's doodle do this?? I find it so funny and surprisingly when I did a little research online as to why he does it, I found nothing! He also makes a point of "showing" us when he does it. If we move it off of us, he gets upset.
Last night Gavin brought his stuffed marrow bone and laid it on the couch beside me and moments later brought his kong over and laid it beside the marrow bone. Then stared up at me. Awwwwwwe, I thought, he is giving me a gift. But then I picked up the bone and noticed that some of the food inside was stuck in the middle where he couldn't reach and there was also a treat stuck in the kong. Generous? Or was he looking for me to help him free up his treats? In Gavin's case I think Mr. Smarty Pants was looking for assistance. But Seamus - well that seems like truly a selfless act. Good boy Seamus!
Rosey will bring her Kong to me and make me hold it while she tries to get the treat out. I know I shouldn't help but it's kind of a game with us now:)
Okay so I think Rosey can read my mind or the computer because I KID YOU NOT, and took a pic with my phone camera to show you, but her BFF Ruby is spending the night and she was on the couch next to me and Rosey brought over a marrow bone, laid it on the couch and then went and got another one and now they are both calm chewin' bones. Right next to each other!! Now they are each on a couch chewin' chewin'!
Okay, this is the sweetest thing I've seen. We have had dogs that will bring us their treats to hold. I have had multiple dogs for many years and not one has every shared their treats with the others. Amazing! and it is only her friend dog not a sibling! wow!
I know! I was so proud of Rosey!! It was adorable to watch her bring over the bones and she stood next to Ruby for like 10 minutes chewing, which she never does, usually she goes off on her own to "enjoy" but then she just got up on the other couch and kept chewin' away!
Well, I've had dogs that "hid" bones in plain sight in the house after being given one, (an indoor equivalent of burying the bone)and they got very upset if you went over and moved it. So maybe Seamus is giving you and your DH his bones for safe-keeping, basically "hiding" them in your laps, and when you move them, he's upset because the bone is no longer safely hidden, if that makes sense.
But regardless of why he's doing it, it's adorable.

This is what I thought...that he was leaving it near us for safe keeping. He often walks alllllll around the house looking for good spots to "hide" his bones. =) He is a good boy....sometimes...lol
