A member of our Maltese Rescue has friends in Bakersfield, CA who are seeking to adopt one, or perhaps two, rescue doodles. They use petfinder.com so, I am interested in any rescue doodles not listed on that website...

Richard, We are in Riverside, not Bakersfield, but we got Clancy at the local humane society and he was NOT listed on Petfinder. They should check out all of the shelters within driving distance as well as local breeders who might have a dog needing a re-home.
Hi Richard,

Encinitas is a bit of a distance from Bakersfield, but the Rancho Coastal Humane Society has a beautiful 97 lb, 2 year old doodle named Sydney. He arrived with his brother, who I think has been adopted. This is the post from their sit:

"Sydney is a friendly guy who loves everyone, especially and is used to living with another dog. He is potty trained and loves to go for walks, car rides and just cuddle with his human family. Sydney can be a little nervous with new people and would like a mature home with another dog for company. He is intelligent, well behaved and used to being indoors with his family. Since Sydney is used to a quiet home, we feel he would do best in a mature, mellow home where he will feel safe and secure."

I have really been tempted to adopt him myself, but now is not the best time for me to add another doodle.

What a beautiful dog. I hate when they split dogs up who come from the same home. He looks like a gem.
What a handsome dood.
Thank you Christine and Camus for the information on Sydney. He looks like a great Doodle! I have phoned Rancho Coastel Humane Society and Sydney is still there. Too bad his buddy isn't there but, there appears to be another dog who is pals with Sydney...

We would foster Sydney here but, we still have five adult rescue Maltese and one puppy (who is waiting for her new family to return from Europe). Those Maltese along with our four own Maltese and our Goldendoodle, Holly make our house pretty canine full...

Although Encinitas is a distance from Bakersfield, it is only about a half hour from where we live. I don't know us being close would help but, I have sent the information to our contact in the Maltese Rescue Organization who will in-turn forward it to the people interested in the dog.

I want to get in touch with the folks who want the Doodle... I hate communicating second hand...
I have just received an email from our friend in the Maltese rescue. She passed the information on Sydney to the person who wants the Doodle and he is going to act on it immediately. Hopefully, between us all - we may have found Sydney a new home...
I'm hoping too! Thank You....
I really think that the Rancho Coastal Humane Society presents its animals quite well on their web site. The video of Sydney playing with the little dog should let any prospective adoptive families know that he is a great big gentle dog.

It reminds me of Holly playing with our one remaining Maltese puppy. She has been adopted but is awaiting her new mom's return from a cruise aboard the Queen Mary. Holly is nurturing and loving and plays very gently despite being twenty times the weight of the puppy.

Aren't Doodles just great dogs!!!
They certainly are! A video is worth more than a thousand words. My dogs brought me a fledgling Robin a few months ago and it was perfectly fine!
You will have to keep us posted!!! Sydney is a gorgeous doodle.
That video feature is awesome. He looks like such a great guy.
Do you know if they are going to adopt Sydney?
