Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

As I was sitting in my office looking out the window at the sunny day, I started to reflect on how fortunate I am. You see, I get to bring my dog to work with me! I could do it every day if I wanted too, but Grandma is home with the tiny humans for the day and I think that they would all miss Gia if I took her EVERY day.

Anyway, I decided to throw it out there to see how many other people are as fortunate as I am and get to take their best friends to work with them? I can say that my worst work days with my dood at my side are better than the best work days without her.

Oh, and she has a cavalier that she can play with while she is with me. So when she isn't sleeping or chewing on an appropriate toy (I had to puppy proof my office!), then she can run a muck through the building or play in the back yard with a dog pal!

So what are things you do with your dood at work? Do you think it makes time go faster? Does it help your mood?

Happy Monday!

Hi Amber,
I too take my dood to work with me. I usually bring him to the office on Saturdays because it is only a half day. Murphy is great company, he makes all the patients smile and laugh when he does his tricks, laughter is the best medicine:o)
No, I can't take Darwin with me, and I am totally jealous of you!
I have the worst of all worlds...I USED to get to bring Callie to work but as the company grew we hired a few people who are scared of dogs (and muppets, since they're scared of Callie) and now there are no more dogs. So now I don't get to have Callie at the office AND I know how much I miss that!!!!!
I work from home. Porter and I sit the two comfy chairs by my front window, with a little table in between for a lamp, laptop and snacks (mine!). It is a pretty nice set up. My mom noticed this routine (him sitting there every time I do) when visiting and now, when she calls, asks me if Porter is in the "office" with me.
I think I need a career change. I sometimes take Jack to work when I stop in the store on a Saturday, but it's usually just a quick stop.
I work at a local ski resort's medical clinic shooting x-rays in the winter. I used to take my beloved yellow lab Rocket until he passed this spring. I so hope to make Stella a "clinic dog" this winter.
I am also lucky enough to be able to bring my dogs to work with me. I work in a large entertainment complex. Because Stella is a registered therapy dog I have never had a complaint about her being at work... Stanley is in training so he's also readily accepted; however with my other dog (he passed away last year) there were some who weren't as comfortable with him... he was a very large Doberman (and one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet).

The Doods are just so cute and nonthreatening looking... I get so many compliments on them and people come looking for them and are disapponted when they aren't with me.

Stella doesn't need much in the way of entertainment... she's happy just to lay nearby and follow me when I get up to do anything. Stanley, who is under a year old need more stimulation... toys, chewies and regular walks around the building and outside.

I think the dogs have a very positive influence regarding the stress level at work... for all involved. Stella recently attended a board meeting and it was, by far the calmest meeting ever. Who can't smile and relax with a Doodle in the house?
How lucky you both are, Amber and Gia. What kind of work do you do?
Frannie, I am sorry you can't take Callie any more. Those of us who never have been able to take our doods don't miss it as much as those of you who were able to and now can't.
I made a major life change for The Rouser (actually, I got Rouser so that I could justify my major life change).

I used to have to commute to another city Monday and come home Thursday. After 4 years, I was BEAT. We sold the company and I agreed to stay on for an additional 9 months to transition ONLY if they let me work from home. The day after they agreed, we put our final deposit down for The Rouser and he was with us two weeks later. I think he saved my sanity!

I have continued to work from home for the past 2.5 years. My husband and I have now started our own company and, just in the last 2 weeks, we've secured office space and we're now transitioning into working less at home and more at the office. The catch - DH had to choose to either get another dog to keep Rouser company or find space where we could take him. We're now in a dog-friendly office (and we're friends with the owner of the building).

DH said he can't take the sleepless nights of puppy joy again :)
I'm soooo jealous! I would love to take Clifford to work with me and he would love to be able to come along. Hmmm, maybe I should start looking for a new job at dog friendly employers!
Ha - we just got back from voting! We walked to the polling place. I had an absentee ballot to drop off and then I took Rouser for the rest of our walk while DH voted. We met up with our neighbor who had also walked up there and we all walked home together.

Rouser wore everyone's "I Voted" sticker on his bandana.

What a fantastic way to vote! True multi-tasking at work.
You are very lucky! Sounds like a great place to work.
