Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Today I received this email from Doodle Rescue Collective:

We picked up Smokey on Sat afternoon from his current owners. Really nice people, she was very emotional about surrendering Smokey. I talked to her about the good thing she was doing by giving him to the DRC, as we love
doodles and will find him a great family who can meet his needs.

He is beautiful and a very gentle dog. He just needs lots of attention and playing. He jumped right into my pack on Sat night and went for 3 walks yesterday, one this morning with my neighborhood walking pack (6 other
dogs and my 2 walk each morning after the bus stop). He did great, no
aggression with the kids or dogs. He is house trained, crate trained, neutered
and knows basic commands. He appears to be a non shedder.  Anybody know
about Windy Ridge Farm- Laura Lambert?  They are the original breeder in
Mt. Airy MD.

He is  very happy right now with my 2 doods.

I posted his story on available doodles, with a picture.

I have a vet appt for Wed, he is behind on his vaccinations. He has captured our hearts, so this will be tough to let him go!

If anyone can help, please let me know & I'll get you the contact number.

Thanks very very much.

How old is this little guy and is he a lab or a golden doodle? Jennifer
Could you tell me a little more about this dog? How old is he? How big is he? Why are the current owners letting him go? I am a goldendoodle owner and my in-laws are looking for a dog. They are in love with our guy and are looking for the right dog for them. THey live on a 22 acre farm in Great Falls, VA.
Thank you.

I have sent Diane an email about the interest in him here @ our Doodle Group and am waiting to hear back from her as to whom you need to contact. Since he is well-trained and appears well taken care of, yet behind on his vaccines, I'm thinking possibly his family was having financial troubles. :-( I don't know that for sure, though.
From the picture, Smokey looks like a standard American Labradoodle. He is such a cutie pie!
I'm hoping to hear back tonight. Will let you know as soon as I do.
Thank you for your interest.

A friend of mine lives near Mt Airy and said this place is known as a horse farm. No knowledge of the people there, but there should be someone to pick up the phone at least...

He is adorable!!!
Leann,
Wind Ridge Farm was his original breeder, NOT the owners who had to surrender him to DRC. If she is interested in adopting or fostering Smokey, please let me know and I can pass along contact information through Doodle Rescue. :-)

Thanks a bunch.

I am coming to the Stony Point Fashion Park event tomorrow at 1:00 pm and bringing Smokey for anyone who is interested to meet him. We have had lots of interest in adoption for him, so come on out to the event to see/meet him.
He is a doll and very well behaved. Needs to be with other doodles, he was kept in a cage most of the time.

Is Smokey still in need of a home?
Is he still in need of a home?
Hi Deanna,
You can contact Diane Marra, a member of our GRAD group, to see if Smokey is still available. Her link is right above your post. I met Smokey last weekend and he is a sweetheart...and so handsome.
Drop Diane a line to inquire more about his availability. :-)

Oh Kate that sounds perfect for this handsome fellow! I hope it's a great match!
Smokey was adopted a week ago by a wonderful family in NYC who have a Irish doodle about the same age as Smokey. The husband works from home, and walks the dogs each day, and they have a fenced yard. Thanks for all your support!
That is such great news Diane, thanks for letting us know! He is such a gorgeous dog and I'm so glad he has found a good home - complete with another Doodle to play with!!
