Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I'm full of nervous excitement. We pick up our little goldendoodle in just a few hours! Any last minute tidbits of advice before we take the plunge?? She is almost 8 weeks old. We're naming her Zenyatta after the beautiful race horse.

Also, if you are in the Twin Cities, please msg me!

Good luck...today will be a very special day. I love her name!
CONGRAULATIONS!!! That is a beautiful name. Take lots of photos - they grow faster than KIDS!
Congrats on your new puppy!!!...I love her name, just love her and be patient with her. Try to enjoy the puppy time, it goes so fast, and take lots of pictures, they grow everyday. Is she a standard size or a smaller one,?...We have a standard goldendoodle, his name is Oliver and we love him to death, lol,,,They are so smart, and so loving and so funny...Just enjoy, but of course go to our group sites, the info on these sites are amazing, and know that we are all here to help you if you need it. No question is considered dumb or silly here, and everyone here is so special....
Enjoy, be patient, and label you photos by age so 2 years from now you wanna know how big she was at 8 weeks you can tell for sure instead of guessing! Will be looking for pictures!
Update us with lots of pictures once you have her!
A day to always remember!!! Good luck with your newest family member, Zenyatta!
Congratulations! That is so exciting! I have an 11 week old puppy too. Love the name you've chosen for her. Do post lots of photos!
Oh congratulations!

My only advice is to be diligent about your potty schedule - especially in the first few days. Trust me, persistence pays off quickly with these smart doodles. Set a timer and take her out the second that timer goes off (or if you see sniffing the ground) and say "go potty" and then make a really big deal out of her success (lots of praise and a treat) and bring her back inside right after so she knows the difference between going outside to play and going outside to potty. My friend gave me that advice when we got Rouser and he was potty trained in three days (aside from one human error at 12 weeks).

I cant' remember if we took Rouser out every half hour during the day the first few days? I think it was something like that. I was shocked on day three when he ran to the back door and scratched on it to go outside and go potty - we didn't teach him that! You're going to love all the little things that your doodle will do that will just melt your whole family's hearts!
Have fun and keep us updated!
We are home and pup is sleeping. Unfortunately we had and hour and a half drive home and she spent most of it barfing. I really wish the breeder hadn't fed her so much lunch! She was actually quite perky and wagging her tail once we got home. She even tolerated a little washing of her face and paws. The pic below is Zenyatta and my 6 year old. Puppies are going to be as hard as children to photograph, I see.

I think she's going to be a great dog!! Thank you all for the advice. My DH got me a timer to help remind me of potty times.
