aloof at bedtime

my Dakota is aloof at bedtime.when my pug,doodle and i go to bed my dood wont cuddle.i bring her to me and try to cuddle.she will let and wants me to give her a tummy rub.then after i quit giving her a tummy rub she goes to the other side of the bed to sleep.i try holding her close to me but after a couple of minutes she leaves.she doesnt leave the bed though.she likes to cuddle on the couch but not at bedtime.my pug likes to cuddle alot more than my dood.i wish she was more cuddly.does anyone else have a dood thats aloof like mine?????

Penny LOVES to cuddle during the daytime (and when we're watching TV at night), but once in bed, she's on her own. I know she gets really warm if we try to cuddle her, and she needs air. But she stays on the bed! I'm betting your Dakota is the same way.

My doodle the first couple months slept at the bottom of my feet - now she will cuddle for an hour and then gets up and goes to sleep underneath the bed. Around 5 am I hear her doing the army crawl out from under the bed and hops up to sleep the rest of the morning with me. I was kinda of bummed when she started doing that, now we enjoy our time cuddling and then both go to sleep our own way, ha!

My dachshund sleeps under my bed! I thought it was really odd at first because there are no towels or anything under my bed... then I realized it's because that's the only place that my labradoodle, Sunny, can't get to her!

Ned like his cuddles but on his own schedule. I he moves several times during the night but in the morning he always seems to be sleeping on his back on the foot of the bed.

Sunny always gets very warm if I cuddle her on the bed. When her fur is long she always gets off the bed in the middle of the night and sleeps on the floor, but with her shorter fur she sleeps on my feet all night :) I love having a little foot heater for the winter!

The only time we get to cuddle with Daisy is in the morning when she first wakes up. She likes her belly rubbed (and we like to rub it), otherwise it's play play play all day. She is not cuddly at all, in fact if we want a hug we have to sneak it from her. She likes to be close and she will put her head on your lap to get petted but she does not like cuddles. She also sleeps in her crate or her bed, never with us. I think she gets too hot.

Lola is the exact same way you described Dakota. She is now two years old but at around 18 months she started crawling up to me in the early morning and get near my face so that I would pet her. The only times she is incredibly cuddly is when we are away at friends house together. She is like velcro - sitting on the couch with me, staying close to me in bed. It's so sweet. My friends can't believe she is much more independent when we are home.

Kona is my hot water bottle at night, almost laying on top of me, but only in the winter....... Summertime she is on the floor and sometimes in the living room next to the sliding door to stay cool.

Buddy lays at our feet on the bed all the time, he does not cuddle on the bed, he does on the couch. They are all so different :)

Cuddling is a companion dog thing. Neither Labradors or Poodles were bred to be companion dogs.
Most dogs need a job and relish their job. Baggins, my Rottweiler, is my protector and stays close -- but doesn't cuddle. Brewster, my Standard Doodle is always watching the door. He is close, but not that close. Although they are my companions, they are not companion dogs. Does this make sense?

Murphy has always been a bit aloof. He started sleeping on our bed around 9 wks old and has always gone to the foot of the bed no matter how much we coaxed him to be closer to us, and he still does. The couch is the same as Tara, he will go to the far end. He is my watchdog, running partner, ball retrieving companion, but not a cuddler. I am grateful he "let's" me hug him and give him belly rubs.

I have two doodles too. Webber, the male, is always close, but doesn't cuddle...he gets too hot and jumps to the floor to cool off and then comes back to the foot of the bed. Seda, is a daytime cuddle bug but at night she goes to the end of the bed. If I didn't turn the heating down at night I don't think they would even stay on the bed. My son's dog, with short hair, wants to sleep right next to him, and has to be touching. I think it's the hair/fur!
