Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well we have a 1 week + 1 day count down for Christmas. How will your Doodle make out under the tree.
We have Daisy, and 2 Grand Dogs, Sophie and Lily, and a Grand Kitty Charlie Bean. There are plenty of gifts under the tree for all - but wondering "is this over the top silly or what?".
What constitutes over indulgence for a pet?
We have purchased a few stuffies on sale in the past couple of months - they are in a bag in the guest bathroom bathtub (don't see whey this space can't be used for something, it also hides extra TP and Paper towel). I also purchased antlers for each of the dogs, some chuck it balls & and a new scratch post for Charle Bean the cat.
I'm done, I think, well maybe, somehow I am sure something else will make it's way into the tub.

I've given this some thought lately - as I see another great toy or a new treat and start to buy it. Maybe when the dog gifts outnumber the human gifts. Hmmmm, this is Clifford's and Little Dood's first Christmas with us so we've indulged a bit...maybe we should hold back on a few gifts and give them to them in a few months when the Christmas toys have lost the charm. Although I did see a really great ball that grunts instead of squeaking....maybe just one more thing...
Love!
I did Black Friday (2:00 p.m.) only for 18 Penn tennis balls for $3.99 all 6 family dogs get their own 18 ball bag, the last 6 pakages they had. Gus is also getting Nina Ottosson's Casino and Dog Finder can't wait to play with him.
Well, Lucy and Sophie were going to get a Hands Free Blow Dryer on a rolling stand from Pet Edge, but unfortunately it is on back order until February (wait was that really for L&S or for ME, HUM), anyway, so far this year I have been very good about not going crazy. So far they each have some special treats from Moochie and Company and that is all. They seriously do not need any toys (although I've had them in my hands at the store several times thus far and always put them back). They have however bought presents for all the other doggies in the extended family! I have a week left to shop though so I'm guessing there might just be a few toys creep under the tree between now and then. As a matter of fact, right before reading this I went through my shopping list to double check that I had everything finished, and I crossed everyone off the list except Lucy and Sophie. Too answer your question though I think that the only thing that really constitutes OVERINDULGENCE is different for everyone. If you are spending money you don't have, well then that would be overindulging!
I'm off to see the hands free blow dryer :)
Rooney isn't getting much but that is only because my house already looks like a doggy day care with all his toys. LOL I do have him one new chew toy and I need to pick up a Chuck It as he has taken control of another puppies when we are at the play park. I agree that if you can afford it - no problem!
Lisa, your question brings up a recent discussion that I am still laughing about. Did You Buy Your Doodle An SUV? Honestly though, I would if I could.
The world will not spoil our dogs. That is our job. If you can do it, go for it! Enjoy. Have Fun.
Spud is off to the vet again. That is his present. So if any doodles complain, tell them that Spud got his ears cleaned for Christmas and I bet they stop barking
Oh Spud, I'm sorry you are getting your ears cleaned for Christmas. Maybe Santa will drop off a fresh new tennis ball for you for being such a good boy about the ears. Clifford and, ahem, Little Dood send man-hugs to you and hope you feel better.
My mom usually brings him a present. She is 86 ( or 85, I'm loosing count now). She gets a little confused. A few weeks ago she hands the dogs these little cloth toys. Starlit likes small cloth things. On a second look I see the package--Cat Nip Bean Bags! Oh well. Starlit still gets a hold of them. She truly was a CAT in her other life. I know it.
Oh Spud, so sorry about those ears dude ...... but I bet if you were willing to admit it, they do feel better now that they are cleaned ....... (at least we hope so).
Joanne, I couldn't agree more. It IS our job to spoil them. Poor Spud...ear problems are no fun. We hope he feels better.
Poor Spud, I am sorry the dreadful ear cleaning is upon you again....Daisy is going for a bath and brush, she won't be enjoying herself either.
Please note...I did not buy Rua a SUV for Christmas. It was a coming home present! LOL
