Well we have a 1 week + 1 day count down for Christmas. How will your Doodle make out under the tree.

We have Daisy, and 2 Grand Dogs, Sophie and Lily, and a Grand Kitty Charlie Bean. There are plenty of gifts under the tree for all - but wondering "is this over the top silly or what?".

What constitutes over indulgence for a pet?

We have  purchased a few stuffies on sale in the past couple of months - they are in a bag in the guest bathroom bathtub (don't see whey this space can't be used for something, it also hides extra TP and Paper towel). I also purchased antlers for each of the dogs, some chuck it balls & and a new scratch post for Charle Bean the cat.

I'm done, I think, well maybe, somehow I am sure something else will make it's way into the tub.

So, what constitues "Over the top?" you ask.....Hum...ask 100 different people and you'd probably get 100 different answers.

I have to laugh at hiding them in the guest bathtub - I have all the presents hid in our downstairs shower stall that NEVER gets used.  LOL

We picked up a couple of toys when we were at the pet store last week.  A squeeky weiner that lasted about 6 seconds (bit the end off of it) an "indestructable" tug toy (he bit through it last night) and a Kong squeeky tennis ball (it is fairing just fine thank you very much!)  Tennis balls and chews (bones, antlers etc.) are all that survive in our house and I have wasted enough money "trying" new toys!  Next time I even think about a new toy, someone doodle slap me ok?

Oh yes, on top of antlers, Peri already got an early gift of Frontline Plus for 3 months and 6 months of heartworm preventative :)

Darwin is getting two treats, and two toys. So four total. I think that is reasonable...

No toys at my house. They last for about two seconds. Last week I bough a toy that said it was indestructible, there was even a picture of a Rottie holding it. Well I can say that it took them a little longer than 2 seconds to destroy the Indestructible Pig, one week to be exact. We now have flat pig. It wasn’t my Rottie that destroyed Mr. Pig, it was the very sweet Doodle girl of the family, and she only let Miss Freya have the pig for a brief time before she claimed it as her own. I'm sticking with antlers.

Porter got a pillow pet for his B-day in November and is getting an Antler for Christmas.

At a mall kiosk, the large pillow pet was $19.  He kills it every day (he's not a disemboweler, just a shaker).

I just saw these at Petco tonight. Same price for the large one. That would last about 5 minutes at my house!! But they are very cute. And soft.

I have seen these pillow pets everywhere!!  I didn't know they were for dogs!!

I don't think they are for dogs....I think they're for little kids.  Saw them at Wal Mart just yesterday.

Yeah, definitely for kids.  My five-year-old got one in October for his b-day, and Porter was irresistibly drawn to it.  My son received other gifts too, so I thiiiiink he was okay with the dog getting a similar birthday present a month later ;-)  They have small parts like eyes, but Porter hasn't de-eyed a stuffy in over a year.

Our dogs get gifts because the kids think they should get them.  My daughter (12) actually went around the house to each dog, asked them what they wanted and made a list for them.  I read the list.... most wanted hugs, snuggle time and a bone.  Aparently a couple asked for a new dog bed...  (Oddly enough it was HER dogs that requested the big gifts. :o)  We took the list and went shopping.  She spent her own money on her dogs and I bought each dog a new bone.  Of course all of them will get hugs on Christmas morning.  Now to deal with the fact that the dogs actually talk to my daughter.... :o)
