When my kids were little I was one of THOSE Mom's who picked up the phone to call the Dr for every little thing.....sigh.....what can I say...they were my babies!!!
Banjo is just not himself today. In a very subtle way though. He isn't his usual playful, nutty self. He's kind of quiet, laid back and low energy....with a runny nose...and outside in the cold air he keeps making funny "huff's" through his nose sounds. Like he's snorting out air. That's it. He seems to be eating and drinking normally and eliminating just fine. I can't tell if he has a temp or not......how do you know???
Soooooo.....instead of rushing to the vet's, I called just see if the office will be open tomorrow (Banjo's Birthday!!!!! WOO HOO!!!). They will be in the office til 3....so I guess we'll see how the little guy is feeling tomorrow. I do worry!!! Isn't it always right before a weekend or holiday that they get sick??? Fingers are crossed that we won't have to make a visit to the vet's office!

I'm sorry to hear Banjo is not himself today. You're doing a great job of picking up on subtle changes in his behavior though!! I agree with the suggestion to continue monitoring him at this point. Hopefully he is just having an off day. It would be good if you are able to take his temp. Also, besides having access to your regular vet I suggest having the phone number and address of your local emergency/24 hour vet handy too (I have it stuck to our refrig). Not that I think you will need it but I just think it is a good policy to know IF you have one and how to contact them quickly during off hours.
Please keep us posted!! Tara is sending Banjo a big doodle hug!!
I'm more of the "Wait and See" type mom. I used to run to the doctor for every little thing with our first child especially, then not so much with the second, and now I'm the same with the dogs. I just learned to trust my own instincts more before I call.
If he's eating and eliminating normally, and his temp is normal, I'd wait and see. But go by your instincts, I'm sure you are the expert when it comes to Banjo!
Banjo, we hope it's nothing at all and you are just having an off day, Quincy is acting a little odd too he wouldn't eat the treat I gave him and that is so not like him, so I know why your mom is worrying. I am hoping Quincy is just moping because he hasn't been outside to play ball in a week. Rain, drizzle, fog and wind all week.
Oh dear, I hope Banjo is okay and not catching the Flu or something. I hope he's just down 'cuz his Birthday is tomorrow and he's thinking about how old he's gettin! I'd take his temp, just because I hate worrying and not knowing, but please remember to lube! I have memories aobut my mother taking my temp that way!
Hugs n licks Banjo! We are sending up positive thoughts n prayer that you get better soon!
