That's probably a misnomer for a title, since we're going down to 1/2" on the body. Lucy is in the mobile grooming van right now in front of our house. Last night I worked and worked on recently developed mats (with thinning shears) in her cheek areas. She's 14 months old and never had mats before now. Today's groomer said it could be due to the drier air, although we've always kept her quite short which I think has helped keep mats at bay, and this is the longest she's ever been (not counting her puppy coat). Unavoidable, as this was this groomer's first available opening (appt. made 3 months in advance). I handed the groomer "The Doodle Do" instruction sheet, as well as a couple pics of Lucy's past cuts. He thought the instruction sheet was a great idea, as there is no standard for doodle cuts. I'll post pics as soon as he's finished, but here are the 2 pics I gave him to use as guides. I loved the 1st cut/pic, but the head hair is too long, especially knowing how easily her head hair will mat after a couple months.  I liked the 2nd pic/cut for shortness, but think she turned out with a bit too much of a Bozo-ear look. I'm really hopeful today's groom will will be a nice combination of these previous cuts.

Oh, so beautiful! I like both pictures a lot. The one with her standing, with head cocked is really expressive and her face and ears are just perfect. Lucy is a beautiful Doodle. Yes, please post pics soon!
Lucy is just adorable.  I want to cuddle her RIGHT now!  Her coat looks just like a stuffed animal.  I LOVE her tail
So cute!  I usually groom Buddy but with the holidays I took him to Petsmart and we got him cut to a 1/2 inch.  They too left his head hair too long so I trimmed it down myself.  I love when they are all nice and fluffy!  I also love those pipe-cleaner looking legs!  Looks so snuggable!
She looks so soft and plush.  One of the cool things about doodles not having a standard cut is that you can do whatever you want and it is never 'wrong.'  I know a dood with a mohawk and he looks really cool and stylish with his young owner.
Nancy, its great there's no standard for doodle cuts, BUT, getting a groomer to listen to what you want is the real challenge. They say, "Yes, right, okay." and then proceed to do whatever they want. Exasperating!
She looks so nice and soft!! Beautiful.....
Awww  It think  Lucy  is a beautiful  looking doodly   I too would love to cuddle her now  but I know WIlson would be jealous !!!!
I've not had any time to post pics of Lucy's groom on Monday till now. She turned out much shorter all over than expected, but I'm really having a difficult time with her leg hair length. I specifically said, 1/2" on the body and 1" on the legs. Her leg hair is so short you can see her joints. I guess my search for a groomer who listens is still ongoing.
with a face like that who cares about the legs. oh my she is so adorable. but i know what you mean. when the fur is so short on the legs they look so different. luckily it grows back quick.
I STILL can't get over the legs on that girl!  WOW are they long.
I agree, the leg hair is way too short, but the head and face and body seem perfect. We get a different look each time we pick up Daisy, it makes me think it will never happen like the first time which we loved and they swore she would look each time.
It's a good thing doodles are cute with "most" cuts.
