When Fudge was groomed a couple of weeks ago, the groomer pointed out a small growth in Fudge's ear. It was small and looked like a skin tag. I didn't think anything about it at the time. Well, today her ear flapped back and I was shocked to see the tiny growth has more than doubled in size and I immediately called the vet. She has an appointment Wednesday. The growth looks like cauliflower and I have been online tonight and it looks like it might be called a sebaceous adenoma. What concerns me is that it says rapid growth could indicate something serious like cancer. I will try and post a picture tomorrow. Has anyone heard of this or has their dog had one of these growths?

UPDATE: We went to the vet tonight and she said the growth has to be removed surgically on Friday. She said most of the time these things are benign, but she has been wrong in the past, so she will not know until the biopsy is done. Thank you again for all of your concern. We all really appreciate all the kind words.

SECOND UPDATE: Fudge went in this morning for her surgery. She did great. They were able to just give her light anesthesia, but she is still acting punch drunk and is very tired. We will not have the results of the biopsy for about two weeks. On a side note, Vern drove with me to drop Fudge off and when I came back to the car, he was howling like a baby. When we picked her up, he was so happy to see his Fudge and was very gentle and loving.  He checked her out with his sniffer and made sure she was ok. Very sweet.

Hope you have good news!  Googling can be dangerous for our health =)
Try not to stress but I know that's very hard to do (easier said than done). Max & I are sending pawsitive thoughts your way.
Bella has tons of these types of growths, all over her body.  The ones that are growing on her nipples look just like what you described.  They have all been benign, so I wouldn't worry too much until the vet sees them.

How old is fudge?  These growths usually appear later in life.
Sending positive vibes your way. Stay away from the internet...I should know. I have panic attacks when I google stuff like that. It always shows the worst possibilities.
I have to force myself not to Google every little thing.  It makes me a stressed out, anxiety ridden mess.  I think my doodle, my children and my husband have all been knocking on death's door over my google searches at one point or another and they have all ended up being just fine in the end.  I know its impossible to relax until you know for you.  In the meantime Fudge will be in my prayers :-)
Oh that's scary. I hope she is okay. I know that older dogs get moles and stuff. How old is Fudge?
Hi Laurie,  a friend of mine has a cockapoo who had a fast growing growth in his ear.  It was removed by the vet, and although it was cancerous, they got it all out.  Hang in there, and I'll be hoping for the best!
Laurie, good vibes and prayers coming your way from your friends here in fl.  I had a dog that had this many years ago, and I too, freaked.  it grew very quickly and I too freaked out.  I went to the vet, he removed it and it was nothing but a simple growth, non malignant, and that was the end of it...Lets hope it is that easy for Fudge.  Please let us know what the vet says...
Thank you to everyone for the positive thoughts. Fudge was two on Christmas Day. Fudge and Vern had to go to the groomer today. I let them out while I was putting away the groceries and in that short of time, both came to the door covered in mud. Anyway, the groomer could not believe how much the growth had grown. We go tomorrow and I will post an update. Thank you again for all the concern. P.S. I do agree that Googling can be hazardous to our mental health :)
Googling is bad for so many things LOL.  Seriously, Tacky was diagnosed with early kidney disease and I had a freakout on google for the first day or so. Thank God for DK or I would have lost control!  And he is FINE now!
Oh Laurie, I would be so worried too, I hope it turns into just a little nothing...  We will be looking for your update tomorrow and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!  Hugs to all of you!!
Please update us as soon as you can tomorrow, and remember that although it's hard not to do, worrying is really a waste of valuable doodle time. Just give him a big hug from all of us!
