Our Gunner is 2 1/2 years old now, but the first 6 months, he got hiccups constantly. He eventually grew out of it & I haven't known him to have them once since. I am told it is normal. You could still ask your vet to be sure.
Our new puppy Bella who will be 6 months old next week had hiccups several times a day for the first 2 months and now they are very rare. I did ask the Vet and it was normal. They don't cause any harm and there is no "cure"for them if they stop on their own. I remember my saying this repeatedly to new parents as babies will get them too. Babies get them in utero. and I would ask mom what did she do about them then? Nothing of course. So I can only assume puppies get them during gestation as well and again, nothing can be done for them. I believe it is part of the diaphram maturing as they grow.
Can' remember exactly now.
Yup...I read somewhere that it is not uncommon for puppies to have hiccups for the first 6 months frequently!
Thanks everyone!
I guess it's a puppy thing...
I figured it might be but was curious and wanted to be sure.
Thanks again!
