Am I Normal????

I have been told recently that "Normal" people do not have Birthday parties for their dogs.  As I am sitting here painting paw prints on party favor bags for Murphy's birthday party next Sunday I am wondering.....Is this true?  Am I not normal?  I would love to hear about birthday parties for doodles and see pictures if anyone has any.  Having a party for Murphy's First Birthday seems quite normal to me :)  I think he is pretty excited about it too!

Roona - being "normal" I think is over-rated.  I'm not normal and I'm proud!  LMAO.  I think it's wonderful to have a party for Murphy - Rooney wishes he could be there!

I vote normal.  we have a new daycare and indoor dog park on the east side of cincinnati and they host doggie birthday parties!

I got made fun of when I did Darwin's party. I did invitations, treats, presents, etc. My family and friends told me it was weird... but who cares right? It was a ton of fun and I don't regret it.

  I am doing it at my house (pray it doesn't rain!)  I did invitations, we have treat bags that I am making right now.  I have ordered a fabulous whimsical looking "People" cake as well as a p-nut butter bone shaped doggie cake and cookies.  We are doing people food and beer and wine.  Murphy's trainer, who has also become a good friend, is coming and leading games with prizes.  We have a pup-portrait station......I have a point and shoot with a printer so the pups can get their pictures made and take one home.  Okay....while writing this I just realized they may be right...I am NOT normal!  LOL!  I don't care, I think it will be a blast.  Webber and Seda from DK are coming and Murph is so excited to get to see them again.  Murph is worried that Webber will win all the games though.

Who cares if you are normal! I am just glad that I can get some of the whimsical people cake and a glass of wine !! Tell Murph not to worry about Webber winning everything.   I won't let him hog all the prizes.  This sounds like a GREAT party.  We can't wait.

Linda, we can't wait either!  I told Murph he isn't supposed to win the prizes at his own party anyway so not to worry about it.  Yes, cake....chocolate with cream cheese filling and vanilla buttercream icing.  See you next Sunday!

My vote is 'normal' as well.  We had a party, put a #2 candle in her food bowl and could not wait to give Phoebe her gifts on her birthday, January 3rd..  Of course, this comes from someone who talks to her doodle constantly and even asks her questions (yep, I even give her time to reply sometimes) so mabe my vote should not count so much!  Early Happy Brithday, Murphy!

I think you are normal.  I made a cake for both of our doodles first birthdays last year and I will do the same this year.  After we brought Izzie home in March of 2009, a friend of mine at work gave me a surprise puppy shower.  Everyone brought gifts for Izzie and there was bone shaped cookies for the humans.  Izzie received many treats, toys and bandannas at the shower.

You're asking US if you're normal?  When it comes to Doodles, there's not a "normal" one anywhere to be found on DK.  We're all way "over the top" when it comes to our dogs....and we're just fine with that.  LOL!  I'm sure your party will be awesome!
