The stories about the original breeders make any soap opera look simple. There are rumors and truth and lies , exaggeration galore so that it is all impossible to sort out. I have dogs descended from Rutland Manor-Tegan Park and they are wonderful, healthy dogs to date. I think you should read the guidelines here about what to look for in a breeder and go from there, putting the other nonsense aside. All of us here have doodles and love them.

I can help. I have a list of reputable breeders in the Netherlands (as I am located there) and I can also direct Nicky to reputable breeders in the UK as I have contacts there as well.
Please drop me a note Nicky if you need more info.
A great place to go for information in your area (if you haven't already) is the UK Labradoodle Association at http://www.labradoodle.org.uk/. Good luck!
Best wishes

Chester is out of a Tegan Park bred stud. HIs offspring are healthy and he has tested negative for hereditary problems.
I'll just cross my fingers. I have heard that Rutland/Tegan are VERY careful about their breeding choices. Good luck finding an ALD across the pond!
I tried to understand this Aussie Doodle stuff and it has been a VERY hot topic around here with people for and against getting very vocal. I was at first interested in getting an Australian with manor or tegan links. I would stay away from anything to do with Bev or her daughter. As I think there is just too many questions with out clear answers.
I know that close to me there is a reputable breeder who has breeding stock from Bev. They are in her breeding program and live with her and are well and happy dogs. She has all the genetic testing done on all her breeding stock. So it is possible to have a dog with that blood line without dealing with any of the crap that they have been accused of and with out supporting Bev or her daughter if in fact the allegations of treatment are true.
I changed my mind on getting one because of the price. I researched for a couple of years and kept coming back to the Golden Doodle. we have an F1 dad was a cream poodle mom was a red golden retriever. He sheds very minimally. He is matting alot this winter. He just turned two. We keep him aunatural in coat. I did take the advice on the grooming group with some of the trimming of the bad matting areas. We love him. So no matter what you decide as long as you go by the recommended breeders checklist......or rescue any of the DK doods in need of a home.
Enjoy your new puppy
