When I fix my son's lunch, I often give Ginger a small carrot (the size of your pinky or smaller)   Well now she has become a carrot freak!!  Whenever she hears the bag, she barks and jumps and jumps and barks.

Question...How many small carrots is too many small carrots?   can I give her a big carrot and let her chew on it or will she choke?

Quincy will eat his veggies but he prefers them cooked. LOL my 23 year old son is only now starting to eat his veggies.

I don't know how many is TOO many, but my parents have a black lab who gets carrots as his 'treats', They always have a container of raw baby carrots in the fridge for him! Its a great way to treat your dog and cut calories!! :)

I've tried to give one to Hudson, and he just shreds it, and leaves a terrible mess!

Chervil eats carrots every day as treats and she loves them.  I buy the baby peeled ones, and sometimes cut them up smaller.  We take a pocket full whenever we walk--she may eat a dozen  or more of those a day.  The vet recommended it for the same reason people should eat veggies:  fills them up without many calories.  I'm still working on myself, but my dog is a dream.  (I did need to get used to seeing carrot in the poo, though. . . .)
Darwin loves carrots and other veggies. I don't think there is any problem with giving her a big carrot to chew on.
Tori loves carrots too, but I had to stop giving them to her b/c she hardly chews them and throws them up... even if they are in small pieces.. she does get cooked ones in her food....

I haven't found a consistent opinion on which veggies are ok and how many. I think there's definitely "safe" lists and you should just keep an eye on your dogs stools and their tummy actions (or lack there of!).

Bernie LOVES veggies and fruit. The only thing he won't eat is tomatoes. Here's a pic of him hoarding, and then enjoying, some cucumbers. I had no idea when he kept coming back for more that he hadn't been eating them immediately!

This picture is adorable. Smart little Bernie... :-)
He is, little bugger, makes it harder to let him get away with ANYTHING! Just checked out your blog, I'm totally making chocolate mint cookies this weekend! You should consider starting a group on here for people to share their fav easy recipes , if there's a need to make them doodle-relevant you could ask that people also include a short list of ingredients that are safe to share with our four-legged helpers! =)
Thank you! I should have known the idea was too good to be an original!
There is a "what's cookin" group but perhaps I should start a discussion that includes easy recipes, like altered cake mixes?
My DH and I noticed that Gracie Doodle was seeking out large blades of grass to graze on.  While I was out of town this last week he decided to try cooking green beans and adding them to her Acana kibble.  SHE LOVES THEM!!!!  Now my Gracie Doodle who has never been food motivated or a pest in the kitchen is standing and staring at the microwave oven when her green beans are being heated!  She even picks them out of the bowl first and eats them before the kibble!!!  I never would have guessed but she is craving them!!!
Bindi loves carrots too. Then again she likes both fruits & veggies.
