Ugh!! Here's what I always think when groomers I've experienced have also told me that I don't "keep up with my dog" enough. I think to myself, I comb them, I bathe them in between grooming sessions, and I brush their teeth....and ya know what my groomer does?? She shaves them down anyway!! So what is the point of me driving myself and my dogs insane trying to keep them matt free (an impossible task) if my groomer is going to shave them down either way?!?!? And a shave down is totally fine with me because the groomer does it well, BUT don't make me feel guilty (every single time) about how I care for my pet when, even if I bring them to the groomer clean and matt free, they will still get a shave! Not to mention the fact that I am paying the groomer for a service that she chose to undertake when she opened up a grooming salon.....
Like other posters, I have also heard that many groomers despise grooming doodles.....oh well!! Like I said, maybe these people should consider a career change!
I don't think that groomers are taught "people skills" at grooming school! In any other business if a customer placed an order (how you want your dog groomed) and the business found they were unable to fulfill your order as requested (too many mats) they would place a phone call to the customer explaining the problem and offering possible solutions. From what I read on DK many (not ALL) groomers just change the "order" and never bother to discuss it with the customer. This is a crazy way to run a business in my opinion!
I'm sorry to hear of your experience. I hope your next groomer is a grown up!
I bought all the equipment to do my grooming myself. Clippers, scissors, combs, brushes and sprays. I tried to scissor cut Izzie about a year ago. It did look a hacked grooming job. It was a little embarrassing. I have been too afraid to try again. I hope one day to learn to groom. I have thought about taking a class in dog grooming.
I am sorry this groomer reacted this way. If she treats too many people this way, she will soon be out of business. I would post a review of her grooming business online anywhere I could. I looked at the reviews on line when choosing a groomer.
Hopefully, you will find a good groomer who also has good people skills.
the internet is your best friend right now. The best revenge is posting your review of her on everything you can, Yelp, epinions, yahoo, ... there is a bunch. this woman sounds like a real hag!!
