My first goal is to run/walk at least one mile everyday with my girls. They also need their fun so we will try to toss or "chuck-it" the ball a few times a week as well.

My goals are to keep on keeping on.  No excuses.  Feel a cold coming on...take an Advil and go on a walk.  In my situation this actually works to clear my lungs of excess mucus and prevent secondary infections.  I've been a fitness nut for 3 yrs now because it has allowed me to eliminate some of my physical therapy routine and meds for lung problems diagnosed in my late twenties.

I do Zumba and other dance classes 2-3 times a week, and since four months ago have been climbing a couple hours a week at an indoor rock climbing gym. I also walk Porter 20-30 min on weekday mornings.  Three years ago, I found it difficult to walk for 15 minutes straight, forget doing a 60-minute high impact cardio dance class.

My resting heartrate is now in the low 60s.

My good cholesterol has jumped from 57 to 88 since exercising (the total is still bad, but oh well).

My weight is a bit higher than when I started, which puts me into the normal BMI range.  Woot woot ;-)

Wow Melissa, you're my hero! That is amazing and I'm so happy that your health is more manageable. Hey I took a zumba class once because I love dance but MAN....it seriously kicked my butt...lol. I was beet red and my throat was on fire, but dog-on-it, I made it through the whole class. You are definitely in the "stay fit" category of this group. What an inspiration.
I love ZUMBA ...... as soon as my shoulder is back in shape, I'll be going back to zumba class!  Great work out.  As an FYI, I didn't like the first class, but after the 2nd class I knew it was something I was going to enjoy!

Yeah, there is a lot of arm swinging in zumba.  I hope your shoulder feels better soon.

You are right that it often isn't fun until the second or more class.  You have to know the moves a bit to really get into it.  I looooove taking different instructors' classes; some will be more hip-hop focused, others Latin, Bhangra, Middle East...etc.

I can move my hips doubletime relative to my arms/shoulders, but I am still working on shoulders doubletime compared to feet.  And one instructor does this awesome stuff with her eyes when doing Indian dance, and I am pretty far from being able to express with my eyes.

So not a hero.  It took life seriously kicking me in the you-know-what for me to take care of myself.  Making lemonade out of lemons?

I am beet-red after Zumba too and addicted to endorphins :-)

Still a hero to me... Look what you've accomplished and from really poor health I might add.  How many of us are doing what you're doing in good health?
My goal is to walk or run AT ALL. LOL! Seriously though, my goal is to go to the college gym and jog/walk 1 1/2 miles ever day that I have classes. In addition, to take Darwin on at least 1 walk every day, rather than just letting him run around in the fenced off area nearby.
Good for you, good for him right? I know you have weather issues that make it hard. Hey, maybe you could find an agility training facility for Darwin's active little mind.  There are a lot of indoor options for snowy dwellers.  The college sounds like a great idea for you. What a great resourse. :)
Yes, he definitely enjoys his daycare that we take him to regularly. And like I said he gets to run off-leash daily in the little dog park at my complex. But I hope to start doing more activity that we can actually do together...

Goal 1:  join the fitness group (check)

Goal 2: want to get fit (check)

Goal 3: get a goal

Goal 4: actually do something about it.

Way to go; I am half-way there!

Now I need a rest or an excuse.

I have joined the group.  Now I have to want to set a goal.  I have tons of excuses.  The cold being the biggest one.
Nancy....hahaha, you're so funny. Soooooo, let's get that goal set and you'll be three quarters of the way  :)
