Okay, now I think I have gone over the edge. I am needing some serious therapy! In this economy, I am considering leaving a job so that I can be home with my doods.

Well, that's not the whole story. The job is beyond stressful, I have an hour drive in traffic to and from work everyday. Yes, 2 hours a day in traffic. It's a government job with so many responsibilties that I can't be away from it for more than a day without something needing attention. I have to travel around the state for 1-2 nights at a time and often. DH is retired and wants to go off for the summer and travel in our little toy hauler trailer, I have my only grandson (18 months)moving from Florida to be here in Az with son and DIL in March and they could use some grandma babysitting, and I have sorely neglected my own physical health due to this job. But having said all that, I think missing my doodles so much just puts the last straw on the poor camels back.

Could we afford it? Let's just say we wouldn't starve and the dogs would still get Fromm dog food.

SO what's a doodle mom to do? Any words of wisdom DK'ers?

UPDATE:

Well, with much consideration and re-reading all of your posts and talking to DH and mom and kids, I handed in my resignation yesterday. I will be leaving Feb 18th and it appears it will be considered "Mission Critical" by the Bureau and they will try to fill my position ASAP.  On top of that my son is bringing his family to Arizona a month earlier, which gives me just 3 weeks to get ready for them to move in for a few months and toddler proof my house.  I started the Adventure Bootcamp on Tues and now workout 4 mornings a week and a girlfriend invited me to join her stroller exercise club so I can take my grandson with me too!  I have quilts lined up in my head that I plan to do and some for DK as well !

So, I want to thank everyone for helping me to make a very important decision and I can't tell you how happy you have made Murphy, Bella, DH and ME!!!! Thank you again. You are all the best!

Maybe you could create a job out of staying home with doodles!  Create a doodle doggie daycare maybe??? hehehe In fact, my husband lost his teaching job last summer (we are in Jersey and us teachers are experiencing LOTS of hardship this past year).......maybe I should tell him my idea lol.  =)

What's funny is my husband and a friend just started a business to house sit for seasonal residents and also provide dog walking and play time for people who live here and work. it is starting off slowly but picking up.  I told our friend today that I could do the dog grooming as part of the business, except I only know how to do doodles.

That's great!! For me and my husband, it might just come to starting our own business!  My dream is to open a bakery...but I guess I can push that aside temporarily and do a doggie daycare instead =P hehehe
I know some volunteer work involving doodles that you could do, lol....
In Arizona?
Oh, yes. Desperately needed.
What can I do?

We'll talk. :)

But it can all be done from the comfort of your sofa, snuggled up with doodles!
I am a stay at home mom (to human boys, AND a doodle) and I love every minute of it. I have always said when my youngest started school full time (in 3 years) I would go back to work. I am already thinking of reasons why I should probably just stay home (Hudson clearly needs me) lol... then again I will also have college tuition to think about one day (and advanced obedience for Hudson..lol) I am in a totally different situation currently than you are but there are always pros and cons to every choice, I hope your happy in whatever you choose :)
Thank you Candy, that was kind. And when we were in the stage of life you are, we chose me staying home as well. I did so for our childrens first 12 years of life with some cottage industry work from home. We always felt it was the most important job I could ever do. And it was and they are both great adults now. Good for you to be a stay at home mom. I would love my DIL to be able to do the same with our grandbaby.
I began working part time when I had my first child and thought I would work full time when the last one went to school - but if you do that you will miss the fun of volunteering at their schools and going to their sports events and assemblies etc.
Let's talk after you've been working for 41 years Greg.  Good luck with your job search.
