Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Not that I am complaining but my mini golden doodle barely makes a sound.  Is this normal?  If so when will it stop?  He barks to let us know he needs to leave his crate to go potty but other than that he never makes a sound.  Should I be counting my blessings or enjoying the silence while I have it :)

Well if he barks to get out of the crate then he is not mute. Count your blessings, from a girl with a VERY vocal Doodle. :)
YES!!! Count your blessing!!!
Our gd did not bark at all until about 6 months old. I had never had a dog that didn't bark. Now he only barks when dh pulls in the driveway or when the mail truck is out front.
Did your dogs bark as small puppies or did things change as the got older?
You can count your blessings.  My first doodle was not a barker either and he did not bark at all until he was a few years old.  He had an older standard poodle as a model and he also did not bark.  However, when we got our goldendoodle, he loved to bark at everything and the labradoodle learned to bark from him.  Maybe your puppy just has not had a model for barking.  Enjoy the silence.
I have a 16 week ALD and she is definitely not a mute!  She barks and whines when she feels it is necessary, and occasionally makes "oomph" noises (ha).  It is the total opposite of my older Dalmatian who never, ever barks or whines.  She used to bark at the doorbell but that has almost completely stopped.
My 6 month old Labradoodle hardly ever barks. We love it and hope it continues our previous dog barked all the time. Count your blessings :)
You are one lucky lady. Enjoythe peace and quiet. We have had barkers and silent ones. Owen at five months is a barker and we have found a soda can with pennies in it helps distract him. Would love a mute button!  :o)
A mute button...I like that!!
Count your blessings. :-) Darwin doesn't bark and rarely makes noise, we love it!
Bailey hardly ever barks either, only when he wants the cat to play with her. Count your blessings.

Barley rarely barks. He's 14 months old and he's just beginning to bark when he hears a strange noise. So, I'm sure your doodle is perfectly normal. Count your blessings! Our other goldendoodle, Daisy Mae, won't shut up. She does a lot of demand barking. I love her dearly, but it gets old real fast. She sleeps on my bed and will growl in my ear to wake me up. If she wants something, she'll stare at it and bark until someone gets it for her. I can't really blame her because she's found it effective.
