I would love to have Fudge run around with long hair, but since I am not a very good groomer, I try to keep it shorter. Well, we have been snowed in a few times and had to cancel one appointment, but I realized yesterday she was starting to look pretty scary. So, off she went to the groomer today. Here are some before pictures.

Help, I can't see!!!

I know we have had recent discussions about  bad groomers, the cost of grooming, tipping, etc. Well, I think from the above pictures you can see my groomer is a saint. All she said was that she earned her money today and only charged me $40 and yes, in desperation never to lose her, I tipped her $20 and I will do it again and again and again.

Here is the end result. Keep in mind, that Fudge is unable to protect herself from my attempts at cutting her hair now and then. My kids learned long ago not to let me cut their bangs, but Fudge doesn't know how to say, "Keep away from me!" like they did and sometimes the groomer has to correct my mistakes. She looks much better in person, but takes a bad photo and almost never looks at the camera. She is also getting whiter with every grooming. My chocolate doodle is vanishing.

I have already prepared the groomer for Vern's appointment on Tuesday and I think I heard her say, "dear god", when she viewed him through the car window.

Does anyone else have some scary before pictures or a picture when you realized grooming was no longer a luxury, but a necessity.

When I look at Fudge I see my Daisy, everyone assumes she is much older than she is because of the white coming through. Pretty Baby Fudge, hope we get to romp this summer and and you can bring Vern, he's pretty cute too.

Your Groomer does a way better job than mine, I feel like every other time I get a poodle back not a doodle and talk about big hair - she should have been born in the 80's.

I miss my dood today - she is at daycare, can't wait to pick her up.

I keep saying to Fudge, "who put the poodle in your doodle?" She is looking very poodley to me, but she smells so great. I remember those big hair years.
Wow...she doesn't look like the same dog.  Her color really changes.  Or is it the lighting?  She looks very proud and happy to have her mop gone!  I took Gracie's off yesterday!
She does feel better without all that hair.
Where were you last night during yappy hour?? Missed you!
Fudge looks beautiful! I love her color!! Chocolate doodles are full of surprises sometimes.
We are just getting to the scary point on both our doods, I'm trying to hold off because it is so cold right now but I don't know if they can make it until spring!  We groom at home so I guess we could just trim a little but it seems to take as long to do that as it does to do a full cut.  I've noticed Clifford getting mats lately so we may not have a choice.  Fudge looks beautiful!
She does look very different in the pictures and some of it could be lighting, but she just seems to get whiter and whiter with every cut and she is only two. Her dad was a parti poodle, so I guess it is to be expected. I do like her hair longer, but I think she likes it shorter and she smells great (for now). Thank you for all the nice comments.
Daisy's Dad was a Parti Poodle as well - I really can't believe the similarities in these two - especially since Fudge is a LabraDoodle and Daisy is a GoldenDoodle.
I showed Daisy's picture to my DH and he could not believe it either. Now, you need a big ol' Vern.
Fudge, you look BEAUTIFUL after your grooming!  I just dropped Guinness & Murph off at the groomer and told her to cut them way down....they were also looking a little shaggy.  Poor Murph is getting lots of mats (snow and coat change), so he needs to have a "crewcut"...at least for now.  I'll post pictures later, and I sure hope they look as great as you after their grooming!
Thank you! Good luck to Murphy and Guinness...of course, they will look great!
