A DOODLE AND A POODLE! YIPPEE!

Yippee!  Yesterday we drove up  to St. Peterburgh, Fl., to the Fl. Poodle Rescue group and drove

home with a beautiful, one year old, black male Standard Poodle!  He is just the sweetest boy ever!

Mitzi is doing fine with her new friend, teaching him the ropes around here.  He is already eyeing the pool

and I am only concerned he will jump  in before he fully heals from being neutered.  Our only problem is that his name "Buddy"  just doesn't fit.  I hope we find a better name soon.  Any good suggestions?

Buddy is beautiful!  Can't say that I have a name suggestion.  I am partial to Buddy since that is our pups name. :)  You can always see how his personality comes out the more he gets familiar with his new surroundings.

Given his color, may I suggest Midnight for his name.  Mitzi and Midnight seem to make a great pair.  Congratulations to all.

Congratulations!  Thank you so much for rescuing this boy.  So names..... when I think Mitzi I of course think Mitzie Gaynor which then makes me think of South Pacific.  Why not name this boy after one of the characters or actors in South Pacific:

Rossano

Congratulations on your new little guy.  It's funny that you want to rename him from Buddy ..... I have had 3 male fosters and everyone of them for some reason I have wanted to call Buddy.  Didn't matter what their names were, Buddy is just what I was constantly calling them ...... "How's my little Buddy, Hey Buddy, what you doin Buddy" somehow it was just the natural name.  I'll have to give some thought to names as most of the names I think of for black dogs fit more with the Lab type black coat!

If you decide to change his name, I'd suggest going with a name that sounds similar to Buddy - that way it will still be familiar.  What about Buckley, Sully, Dudley, or something like that?

Thank you all so very much for your welcoming our new pup and assisting in naming him.  We are enjoying him so

much I haven't taken time to properly thank you all.  Your ideas are wonderful and hopefully, in a few days we will be

able to decide which name to stick with.

As for naming Mitzi, her name came to me when I saw her.  She is a strawberry blonde and yes, Mitzi Gaynor just

popped into my head!

I looked up MItzi Gaynor on Wikipedia (I did know who she was), but wanted to see who she starred with to get some name ideas. She was in a musical by Cole Porter, so I thought of the name Cole (Coal). I like the name Oscar and she was in a movie with Oscar Levant.
