Yet, another question.

My 13 week puppy has started excuse the word but "humping".  He doesn't do it to me or my girls just my husband, lol.  Oh, and my brother when he comes over?  I realize he doesn't know what he's doing but will this last until we get him neutured?

Jack did a little humping himself when he was a little puppy, Never people just his bed. I was told to just make an unpleasant noise when he did it and tell him no. Humping is usually a dominance thing. I am not sure about this age though. Jack's humping stopped as soon as he was neutered. He occasionally has been humped by other dogs but he quickly puts them in their place.

Buddy was neutered at 6 months, is now 14 months and still on occassion when my husband walks away from him, Buddy will "latch on".  Or in training class when the dogs are playing Buddy will try to hump the other dogs.  So I guess al dogs are different.

Thanks everyone-  He doesn't do it to me or my girls. However, as soon as my husband walked in from work tonight he was attached to his leg, lol.  Only if my husband would attach him to me, only kidding!!!

 

Dunkin, probably doens't know what he's doing...were just going to have to wait it out until he get's the chachos removed!!

My female doodle humped once as a puppy, and now if I pick her up with her legs straddling my hips while she's excited (like if I just got home) she'll hump because of the stimulation on her underbelly.

She was spayed at 6 months and she's a girl!

I feel your pain.....lol.  My almost 2 year old (80 pound) boy, Seamus, occasionally humps our other pup, who is actually his sister.  This past weekend, he also humped (or attempted to hump) my friend's male dog, basically for the entire day lol.  My Seamus is neutered and he actually didn't start this behavior until after the surgery.  Everyone tells me it is more of a dominance thing, which may be the case.  I don't know if I can train him out of this behavior because he doesn't do it extremely often, but I also wonder how much of this behavior is simply natural instinct?  Of course, when we see him "starting" we usually clap our hands at him to kind of get him to snap out of it and make him lay down.  You can tell that sometimes it truly is difficult for him to "fight the urge." He attempted to hump me for a period of time when he was around a year old and when he did this, we put him in time out every time.  I think by doing this I reestablished my dominance over him and he very rarely (only sometimes if he gets overly excited) attempts to do it to any person anymore.

our one year old female will try to do that to our kids, who are 6 and 8 years old.  They think it is funny, of course!  So we are working on eliminating that behavior!

our four month old female is doing this as well but to most of the family.  The kids think it is funny, my wife and I not so much.  Trying to figure out why a female dog would do it and what is the best way to curb this behaviour?  Is it harmless or is it a dominance thing?

The only thing I've seen Traveler hump is his blanket, or another dangling piece of material, like a towel.  He drags his blanket over to me and wants me to hold it up for him.  :)  He was neutered at 8 weeks.

Huff does hump the his bed when he feels exited or us when he feels like a cazy doodle. He has never hummped another dog (thank goodness). He is fixed (he was fixed at 6mos) but still humps on ocassion.

henderson was 10 weeks when he started. He just did it to me. I couldnt even walk across the floor hed be hanging on. As hes getting older its slowing down. I just keep correcting him, but i cant wait till he gets fixed in 11/2 months
