Please share: Tell us about your doodle dreams...are they good, bad, ugly or all. I have them all, here is the ugly!

I am up too early this morning cause I had a disturbing dream. I dreamed that my sister took Daisy in for a groom as a "surprise" to me. When she brought her back the groomer had shaved her nose like a poodle and her tail was cropped to a nub. I actually woke myself up, I could feel the panic in my dream.

I know why this is happening...we have been trying to keep Daisy long but as of the last 2 weeks we feel like we are losing the battle of the matts. I have brushed her every day, I am now cutting out matts that I can hide. Yesterday she looked up at me and I realized her eyes were getting close to being covered by her bangs so out the scissors came.
I am going to make an appointment on Monday for grooming, obviously I am nervous how she will turn out, we give strict instructions, they nod and say uh huh, and inevitably something is missed or left out. She is never awful but she has been more poodle than we care for 2 times. We are constantly looking for a new groomer but that makes me nervous too.

This is the only part of Doodle ownership that I could live without.

By the way, I will probably be sleeping at church this morning, the Pastor frowns on that but at least I go. ;-).

I can't figure it out, but I very rarely dream about the Doods.  They are so much a part of my life that I just don't get why I wouldn't dream about them.  I understand that anxiety about the grooming, but I am so happy that I had my guys cut shorter last time.  Their lives and mine are so much easier.  I too had gotten to the point where I had to "cut out" the mats that seemed to appear overnight.  Let us know how the "haircut" turns out.
Lisa, If you would stop drinking before bedtime, you would sleep better and not have these weird dreams :) I got our groomer's name from our vet and she has been wonderful. Is there another DK person in your area that could recommend a good groomer?
LMAO!
I feel you pain. We love to keep our big girl long, as she looks so cute, but in the end...it sort of is like "dog abuse" as I know she feels too hot and uncomfortable. I hope you don't have the experience I had the last time we took her to her "regular" groomer, where they shaved her completely down, legs too, and cut her gorgeous eyelashes off...and it was all choppy. Anyway, to cut the story short, the groomer told me she was posting me on her own website as a "bad doggie owner" for allowing all the matts to come. Needless to say, we are not ever going back and if she were not 100lb we may think of grooming her ourselves, but as someone on this website kindly said, when I was going through grief looking at my poor chopped up dog..the difference between a good hair cut and a bad hair cut is two weeks...:) Good luck.

Wow that so called groomer should have "called" and discussed the options not did the unforgivable! Good for you for not going back - I would hate it if they cut Daisy's eyelashes, did they grow back

We keep Daisy about 2"in the warmer weather, what I was trying to do is keep her warm through this awful winter...I think she is in that window right now of getting shaved and not so off to the groomer she will go.

Joanne of Spud and Starlit told me one of our local vets has doodles, I am going to call the office and see if they will recommend someone, we no longer go there because of a move maybe they will feel pity for me and tell me a good groomer.

Don't have any doodle dreams, but I've had some of my best naps in church> :>)

I did a discussion like this a little while ago, thought you would like to see some of the responses there. :-)

I can understand why you had such a horrible nightmare. I think a lot of us can relate. I always dread the time when spring is approaching upon us, it means it's time to have Sheeba's coat cut short. I love her long fluffy hair and hate how short it is at first. All legs and long body with a fluffy head & tail. The first few times they cut around her face & eyes, they actually made her look like a baboon. I wasn't too happy about it & let them know the 2nd time it occured, especially after telling them not to give her that kind of cut around her face again.

In fact the next visit to the groomers means a short cut, I know it's better for her during the spring & summer months and knowing it grows out helps me to deal with it.

A couple of weeks ago, the night before the morning that it was announced that Bella the doodle had bolted and was missing I had a dream about Tara (aka Snuggles) going missing. I was with her and DH at a pet store and was chatting with a clerk. We were about to leave the store and I looked down at Tara (I had her on a leash) and the leash was there but NO TARA!! We were near the automatic door so I ran to it and out into the parking lot but NO TARA!! DH was running up and down the aisles calling and looking for her. NO TARA!!  By that time we decided that she had not gotten loose but that someone had taken her. She just always stays so close to us!  DH and I were talking about advertising and offering a $5000(not sure WHERE that was coming from but it was a DREAM!) reward for her return-no questions!! I was talking with the store security people and as I talked I got more and more upset and started to hyper-ventilate. That was how I woke up!! Gasping and sweating!! It was worse than terrible!!!  But I was SOOOOOO happy to find little Snuggles in the room with me!! What a relief!!

I hope Daisy's grooming goes well!! Keep us posted!  And let's not have anymore Doodlemares!! :(

Wow! That had to be the best dream ever!! What was it like to be a doodle?
I wish I was a doodle...what a life!!
