Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I just wanted to throw this out there. I don't even know if I am allowed to or not on this website so if I am not I hope Adina will forgive me.

Most of us on here are Hopeless Doodle Addicts, no matter what our number status is on here. I am almost totally confident that if I was to come to any of your homes, I would be able to find more toys then the average toy store has. (My house literally is overrun with toys) I bet I could find brushes and grooming supplies that have cost so much money that you could feed a shelter or rescue dog for a year with the money you spent on it. I am not saying you shouldn't. Lord, I am not kidding when I say I hide some of Jack's toys when people come over because it is down right embarrassing.

My health is horrible and I am only able to work one day a week, but somehow I always budget in for Jack.

I have started something that I really want to see take off. For Jack's second birthday which is a week from today, I am having a birthday party for him. In lieu of gifts I am accepting money and or food for the local shelter.

What I did not realize is that we right here, some very special doodles are in need. I have to be honest, I never in a million years could have imagined that a doodle would be in need, I mean they are the cutest, sweetest and most loving dogs in all the world right?? HA. who knew.

I have not been on here long so I was not fully aware of the DRC group on here. I just talked to Karen yesterday.  I have donated some money to them already, I don't have much, but I spent what I would have spent on an average day taking Jack out to buy him more toys he does not need.

Would you join me in donating something to DRC?  Just click on this link and you can see.

Did you know Adina's little Rosco came from there??? I will now be donating all of Jack's christmas, birthday, easter, and holiday present funds to this amazing organization.

Would you join me in wishing my baby a happy birthday by helping another dood in need? I promise Jack is having a huge party, with dog cake, ice cream and lots of fun. We need to make other dood's lives better.

So what do you say, so many of you said you wanted to come to Jack's birthday  party. This is a way you can contribute. For each person that contributes because of this post. I will personally send you a little and I do mean little because that is all I can do, token to say thank you for helping other doods.

What do you say? Who is in?

You are the one who makes me speechless, I can not even begin to imagine how hard it must be to do what you do!!!!
THank you, I will add you to the list and be donating another two dollars for each person who donates!!!
Three more donations have come in......YOU GUYS ROCK!

What a wonderful thing to wake up to!!! I am so grateful for all the givers, I am not sure who has a bigger heart, doodles or their mom's and dads.. I am thinking it is the mom's and dad's.

I have included everyone who has donated, including those who have donated in the UK and those that have helped with the beaten doodle. I am keeping a tally and donating two more dollars for each person who donated, SO far, I have $16.00 more dollars coming.

Please consider donating, DO not think any amount is too little. Every bit adds up.

I was able to order two full bags of Orijen for my local shelter so far for Jack;s birthday party here. It add's up fast. I so often cry when that commercial for the ASPC comes on and that song starts playing "In the Arms of the Angles" and they show all those precious babies in crates beaten.

Lets at least do something for our dood's that are in dire need!!

You guys have no idea how much I appreciate it. They take credit cards but also Pay Pal, If you have pay pal set up, it is even faster then paying by credit card.. I love paying by pay pal!!!

Come on guys make me donate a full 100.00 in addition to what I already have donated....Even one dollar will count toward the goal!!!

This is more exciting to me then any gift Jack or I can receive!!!

Jennifer and all

I so apologize for not responding sooner. I am just catching up here with my DK alerts and email and wanted to post straight away and say thank you!.....Words do not, and cannot, even begin to express how grateful we are to you all and how much I personally appreciate all that you do for the DRC organization and the hundreds of doodles in need that find their way into our rescue program.

DRC is truly blessed to have some of the most incredibly dedicated, wonderful and amazing individuals as volunteers and some of the most generous supporters I think, in rescue. Volunteers, who will drop whatever they are doing to drive or in some cases fly countless hours across multiple states to pull a stinky, neglected sick and unknown dog from a kill shelter if it means saving that one dog from being euthanized. Volunteers who take in and foster one heart worm positive dog after another knowing that dog will be a guest in their home and in their charge for months, willing and determined to do whatever it takes to see that dog through to a clean bill of health from pick up to placement.

Volunteers who spend 12-14 hours a day on their phones and computers searching, tagging, screening, interviewing, checking, arranging making appointments and coordinating everything from home compatibility and references to foster availability, vet care, transport options and home visits. Others are on the back end of DRC managing our website, sending thank you cards, making introductions, investigating grant opportunities (which unfortunately when it comes to animal welfare are few and far between) and checking in with adopters.

You our supporters are equally as amazing. From the little girl in Texas who saves all of her left over lunch money in a jar to “send it to the doodles” and our incredible friend in FL who without fail, is always coming through for the doodles when times are tough, to all of you who repeatedly answer the call for help when help is needed.

Yes…… We absolutely do consider ourselves richly blessed.

We are also so grateful for the support of our many devoted friends and colleagues in the forums and throughout the doodle and animal welfare communities. Nowhere is that support as forthcoming and unwavering as that which we receive here from our Doodle Kisses family. DRC began here on DK and it is here safely nestled in the comforting arms of the mother who gave birth to us where we are most happy and honored to hang our hats.

I say it often but still don’t say it enough. There simply would be no DRC without all of you. Your support, whether it be monetary/or emotional with your encouraging words, your well wishes, your sharing of stories, laughs and well?... Yes…. At times tears….tears of joy as often as they are tears of sadness, is always deeply appreciated. However you inspire us, however you support us, you are the ONLY reason we are able to do what we do on behalf of these wonderful dogs for whom we all share such fascination and passion. We are all champions of the doodle dog….But you all are truly the heroes of doodle rescue.

To date your support has enabled DRC to save and place over 340 doodles in need since our humble beginnings in 2009. Close to 260 of these dogs were rescued in 2010 alone. As many of you may recall a number of these dogs came into the DRC program with extensive and expensive veterinary needs. Care we would otherwise have been unable to provide if not for your kindness and generosity.

Below is a list of some of the vet care that thanks to you and your support, DRC was able to provide for our rescued doodles of 2010.
