Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Between getting to know everyone with Yappy Hour and the game of 3 truths and one lie, there is so much to learn about everyone and there are some really interesting and talented people on DK. I would love to know some of the vital statistics like: Age, Married, Children, their ages, professions, hobbies, a dream or goal you have before you get too old to do it. Things that aren't on our profile page already. With all the photos of ourselves we can now put the whole picture of the DK member together.
I'll start:
I am 57 and have been married to my highschool sweetheart for 39 years this May. We have two grown children, Michele 36 and Erik 30 who are both married and live nearby in Az. We have one grandson, Ethan,20 months old, who is my sunshine. I am a Labor and Delivery Nurse, somewhat semi retired and DH is a retired Fire Fighter. I love to make quilts and give one to every family member and so far have about 16 done and about 23 to go. I love to run, work out, be outdoors, garden, read, and spend time with family and doodles. One of my biggest goals is to hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim and also to see Europe someday. Other than that, my dream of being a mom and grandmother is being realized every day.
How about you?

Born and raised in California, my DH and I have been married for 23 years. We have one wonderfully awesome 11-yr-old son named Gavin. We love to camp, mostly at the beach. This is the first year we haven't been to Hawaii in 5 years and even though we're disappointed, it's for a very good...scratch that, TWO very good reasons. Their names are Ginger and Penny Doodle. :) Our first year with them so far has been amazing.
My husband works for the county in mosquito abatement supervising a large team, keeping us safe from West Nile and the like. I'm a Reprographics Technician for a local school district.
My kiddo is very involved in scouts and playing music. He's also a serious gamer...lol. At least we let him think so.
and we LOVE DK :)
Maybe if we become good friends with some of our DK neighbors <wink, wink> we can swap babysitting...
BOY! I thought we were over the babysitting years...DS is going to be 12 this year. :-p We will probably send them to Petsmart for a weekend...but Hawaii is a looooooong week.
I'm 56. I was born in New Orleans, though I've never lived there. I have a Med Tech degree from LSU, a Geology degree from Centenary and will have an MPH from Tulane in May. I have 2 sons, Jordan 25 and Jonathan 20. Jordan is an engineer (LA Tech, MS Purdue) now living in Austin and Jonathan is a student at LA Tech in Geology . On all of our trips I looked for road cuts to collect rocks. Jon always joined me enthusiastically, Jordan slumped in the back seat, embarrassed.
My first job was way up north in Shreveport. I joined the LSU transplant team shortly after that. No one else liked to fly so I transported kidneys all over the US. After 5 years, I burned out and went back to school and met my now ex husband. My ex husband is a geologist and when Jordan was 8 mos old the oil bust hit. We were both unemployed geologists with a sick baby and no insurance. I went back to the medical degree. We moved to south Louisiana and I have worked at Tulane in research for the last 22 years.
I was on the LSU water ski team (not good, just a body). Jonathan placed 4h in Nationals in slalom and has worked summers at Bennetts ski school near Baton Rouge. I have sailed from the Bahamas to Baltimore and sailed the Virgin Islands. One of the most spectacular sights was seeing the Hale Bopp comet 100 miles offshore in total darkness.
I have done mission trips to Mexico and Alaska. I tiled bathrooms, put Hardie plank siding on a church, and built cinder block houses. I stayed on the northshore during Katrina. My husband and I divorced 4 years ago and I am getting through that.
I once got a sportsmanship trophy because "I had the worst temper and had to work hardest to control it". I won first place in a pirogue (canoe) race and was an all star shortstop in softball. I coached my son's soccer team.
I love to read, hunt fossils and rocks (none here), fish, crab, cook special meals (NOT every day stuff), used to love the sun but skin cancer has slowed that.
I would love to have grandchildren before I'm dead and I want to move somewhere with beaches and rocks.
Oh, and I am a huge LSU and Saints fan. (I was 6 years old before I found out I could not grow up to play football for LSU)
