Last time when Charlie got her hair cut, the groomer did not do her ears nor sanitary areas..... length of the hair on one of her legs was sort of patchy and uneven, I guess because she cut the mats out? But I did not realize this until we got home.

I am wondering if any of you guys had experiences like this and complained to the groomer? If so how did you address the matter? Did they re-do it? or give you a refund / coupon for the next time, etc...? Or you just never return there?

Now this is really funny.  I agree that you could do a better job even if you have never groomed before.  But the good news is - it grows out quickly!

I agree! Easier to see on a light Doodle than a dark one...

Best thing to do is make an appointment to meet with the groomer and talk to her about your concerns. If you feel the groomer will work with you and give you some partial compensation, then try again. If the groomer is defensive and argumentative I would go somewhere else next time.
I used to have a wonderful groomer.... Charlie loved her and she did Charlie.... Since she moved on to another salon, we have not been able to find her nor the other good groomer.... :-(

Kyoko,

I have had no luck with groomers in our area.  I normally never say anything.  I met with the groomer gave her pictures, and was very specific.  Only to come back to get him, and they had shaved down his nose.  The entire hair cut was awful.  I schedule another session three months later with a new groomer.  I went in alone, and showed her pictures of what I wanted. She seemed to  understand what I was looking for.  She ruined it, because as I was leaving she said that she really did not like the labradoodle breed, and went on and on about it.  I told her thank you, and walked out the door.  I just scheduled a new appointment with a new groomer for next week, so I have my fingers crossed.

I am usually too much of a wimp to say anything... :-(

But, if I was more assertive, I would definitely say something to the groomer. Nicely asking them to fix the areas they missed is perfectly reasonable. Then, their reaction to your request should tell you what to do. If they decline and act defensively, you know to find a different groomer. If they are nice about it and fix the mistakes, you can stay and give them another chance.

I think that if the cut could be fixed, you should say something nicely and ask them to fix it.  If it can't be fixed or the groomer is not willing to talk I would not go back.
I think I am such a chicken.....

LOL!!!!

Same thing happened to me... never going back there...even with 1/2 price coupon! Did not notice her nails or ears or rear end til after I left the store since she was so excited to get outta there! Even tipped groomer! When I mentioned to the store manager that I was not happy, she defended groomer! Then she said that apparently Halle yelped when her ears were touched so she did not clean her ears. Also, their version of a sanitary trim does not include the whole rear end or under tail... Went back to my old groomer and she clipped nails for free and since I trim/brush Halle every day, she is going to do Summer Cut asap rather than puppy cut... very reasonable and closer too... Going into the biggest chapter in my book "Never Going to do That Again"!
I don't take the girls to groomers but if I did, I would look the dog over when I picked her up and address any problems right there. But since you didn't notice right away you should definitely go back in person and discuss this. Ask for a free bath or brush out. Never going back is an option but it doesn't give the groomer the idea that she didn't do the job correctly. IMHO.
