How big is she going to get?

Our Australian Labradoodle is only 5 weeks old and is already 9 pounds. Any guesses as to how much she might weigh? She came from a two pup litter...

Her mom is 60 pounds and her dad is 70 pounds. I know I'm supposed to take the average of the two but since she is one of a two pup litter and her paws look so huge I thought I'd ask.

So she'll probably be at least that size, possibly bigger.  I wouldn't go solely by her weight now though, just because it's normal for a litter of two or even a singleton to start off much bigger than normal simply because there is more space and food.  BUT...she may very well even out to what would be expected from a larger litter.  She might be bigger just because a lot of mixed breed pups end up bigger than both parents.  My Rosco was from a litter of 4.  His mom the lab was 55-60 (I believe) and his dad the poodle was 70-75 lbs and Rosco is a whopping 90 lbs full grown.  He's also a male and yours being a female probably won't be as big as a male counterpart would be.  It's all a guessing game.

From our experience, you can't perdict - unless you can see both parents.

Our Molly came from a smaller sized Golden mom, and a Sire named 'Big Red'.

She is an Apricot cutie,  with  large paws, long legs and abundant energy.

From about 6months of age, we started wondering how big she might get,

our Vet was rather consistent with his estimate of 45 lbs.

Molly weighted in at 60 lbs her first birthday, and 66 lbs her second birthday.

She is sleek, healthy, and I think she has stopped growing.

FYI.- in our area, we know of 2 males that are 120 and 135 lbs. Both

are tall and athletic - no fat boys, just big and healthy.

Oh dear lord, this puppy is too adorable!!!!!  In answer to your question - I'd say she is going to be  BIG.  Many times when there is just one or two puppies in a litter they tend to be bigger, they had all the nutrition and all that room.

My dog is is a 70 lbs ALD with 40 lbs parents.  I can't remember his weight before we got him...25 lbs @13-14 weeks.

Getting a doodle sometimes seems like buying a "grab bag" ....... it is always a surprise what it turns out to be!  But one thing is for certain ..... we always love whatever we end up with!  Our girls were only 2.5 and 5 lbs at 6 weeks and they are now 53 and 73 lbs.

We can't wait until she gets here! It feels like forever until she arrives. Without a doubt we will absolutely adore her (in fact we are hoping for a big dog) whatever her size. Thanks for all your input, it's interesting how varied their growth patterns seem to be!

I recently had a litter of pups by my 46 pound female LD and a 32 pound LD. The pups were all about 5-6 pounds at 5 weeks. I did a survey on this discussion forum (you might find it if you search--maybe the word "weight"? Anyway, I got a huge variety of answers and people had small pups that ended up huge and larger pups that ended up small. I think that their growth rate either continues at a fast pace if their genetic make-up is "big dog" and slows down if they are going to be small or medium. At 12 weeks, my puppies (all male) are all about 15 pounds and are getting taller, but not growing as fast as they were. I am hoping they end up in the 35-40 pound range, as that is what the buyers all wanted and hope for. For the most part, the parents (and other relatives) indicate the adult size. I agree that the two pup litter is going to make her a bigger pup right now, but is not an indication of her adult size as much as those paws are!

This reminds me of my kids, actually! They were always the tallest and most mature looking in elementary school--and then they just stopped growing. My son is just under 6 feet and has been that tall since he was 14. Daughters are 5'7" and 5'8" and were that tall in 7th grade. I am 5'6" and hubby is 6'1"-so the averaging thing worked in our family! But they could have also taken after my 5'3" mom--my niece did--she is shorter than all of her cousins.

I just got a 10 week old that is 15# and he has huge front paws, but back ones don't seem in scale to front ones yet.  The breeder said he should be 50-60# maximum (but could get bigger as an F1 is unpredictable sometimes).  The parents were 45lbs and 55lbs. Not tall poodle either (Smaller Standard).  We walk into the vet (my wife was praying she didn't get a "horse")...The first thing the vet says is, "WOW, he's beautiful...He's going to be a BIG ONE!".  He figured at least 70-80# maybe more... YIKES!!!  Others have said both sides of the coin.  Nobody knows for sure I guess... He is now almost 12 weeks old and weighs about 15.8#.

Not sure yet. We are tossing around the name Moki because it's unusual. Any suggestions for an unusual female name?
