There is a house in our community - a beautiful mansion really - on the market, no one living there, the family with children moved out a while back.  On our morning walk we went around back to the lani to get an idea of what it looks like.  OMG - there are 2 giant turtles living on the lani.  Empty food plates left near by.  So when WAS the last time that they were fed?  How do you take everything else and leave behind two turtles?  Are they the kind that could survive FL in the wild.  I'm going back soon with lettuce and my phone.  I'm going to go the realtor and get the facts and then tell her - that someone should help those poor things.  Nice lesson to teach your children huh?  Sick.

Totally enclosed - no escape.  I was told that these turtles were the family's children's pets.  I have no idea what type they might be other than they are larger than I could pick up and carry - which I'm NOT going to try - lol.  I've sent the realtor the info for the FL Wildlife (thanks Joanne) so I'll check later this week and see how they are or maybe they'll be rescued by then!
It always shocks me to see how little some people value animals, of any kind. Very sad.

People are crazy.  That is just terrible. What did they tell their kids?  Not like they can say "the turtles are going to live on a farm"....

Of course turtles are not dogs, however, I cannot knowlingly abandon or kill any animal. Heck, DH won't even kill an insect. He caught a moth the other day and released it outside!  It's amazing we are not vegetarians.

I just thought I'd try out Rooney's flower picture but it is dorky so I'll switch it back - lol.

No, don't! I love it.
When we moved into our house, the previous owner had just moved and thrown her cats out to fend for themselves. Long story short, we now have a cat :)
I found our cat when he was so tiny that he could fit in one hand, just out walking down the street about to be hit by a car.  We've had him 9 yrs and we love him.

Someday, I am going to write a blog about our poor cat. She is pure white in color and was just thrown out to live on her own. In all the time we have had her indoors, she has never tried to get out of the house.

So glad you rescued your cat off the side of the road.

Our two cats were brought in when my husband let his dog around 3am.  At that time she brought in one tiny kitten.  Two hours later, he lets her out again and she brings in another.  They were the size of apples.   He had  no idea what in the dogs mouth until she laid them on the floor.  His dog, adopted two tiny kittens who were tossed into his yard from road.  We still have both girls.  They are almost 15 years old.
we will all be waiting for that one Laurie...get busy.
That is really sad that someone could do that to any animal and to their children! My husband watches animal cops and hoarders and I can barely watch it's so sad! Thanks for caring, I'll also add that the real estate agent should have done something about them.
I don't have to take care of my dog much. I just let him walk around my ranch, and i leave steak out for him next to the doggy door. My sister says i need to pay more attention to him, but I say that if he wants to be with me, He'll come in the house!!!
