Canny Collar (Debb & Lucy look!)

Here is Miss Lucy in her canny collar. I must say the quality is MUCH better then the Gentle Leader. 

Its solid! Seems like it would last a LONG time vs the GL. I am posting pics to see if I put this on correctly. She HATED trying it on but she also hates the GL. It does take time to get used to. 

I had surgery so I could take her on a walk. Normally I can get her to forget she hates it bc we get to go outside. 

 

So Debb does this look right? I got size 3 and I have it on the smallest notch. Def lots of growing room. 

I like the way if she pulls it off her nose it will still be hooked to the lead. It feels much safer to me then the GL.

Your Miss Lucy is soo cute!     I am glad that you posted this !  I may want to order a canny collar soon because i will have to do therapy on my knee, caused by Ayla pulling too hard on the lead!!!       If you can,  Please post a video of Miss Lucy walking with the Canny Collar!

I will ASAP. I had 2 surgeries last week, so Lucy has not been getting walked. (Ugh) I just can't walk with her yet I am not strong enough yet.

Oh!! She's just so cute! Looks like it's on right. Sadie doesn't love the nose piece but when she forgets about it we get a really good walk. I like it better than the GL.

What an adorable girl you have! What a precious face! :-)

I'm not familiar with the canny collar (other than reading about it), so am looking forward to hearing about how it is working after a couple weeks of her getting used to it.

I did want to add, though, that part of my job is fitting dogs with harnesses, collars, etc - including GLs. I know GLs don't work for every person or every dog. :-)  But if it is fitted correctly, the piece across the muzzle only pulls down to the top of the nose button (fleshy part). The part around the head is snug, with just enough room for one finger to fit under it. Even if it is too loose, and the dog pulls it over the nose, the leash is still connected to the o-ring and the part around the head so your dog is still safely leashed. :-)

We have GL, Halti, GL harness, lupine harness and the Canny collar. I like the Canny collar....quality made, much sturdier, the leash is attached from behind the dogs head definitely better for us because Sadie would bite the leash on the ones that attach in the front. We have the Canny collar for about 3 weeks now, she doesn't like the nose piece but she is walking great. I think better than my using the GL.

I feed Lucy Orejin dry puppy food. The breeder fed her this so I stuck with it :)

Thanks for posting the pics of your beautiful girl in the canny collar.  We have the GL for our 90lb lab, but this looks made much better.  I will definitely get one of these now for Molly ♥

Hi Becca! Yes, the collar looks right. My Lucy still runs away when she sees I have the Canny Collar (we're working on that), but she also knows she doesn't go outside without it, so she has an inner struggle when it comes to walk time. She doesn't try to get it off, though, once she has it on, like she did with the GL, so its much more tolerable for her. I agree, the quality of the CC is far superior to the GL. I'm glad you got the size 3!

Ok I took Lucy on a GOOD walk yesterday. Yes, she hates the collar but she hated the GL too. 

I LOVE how much better this collar is made and MUCH easier to put on. I was thinking I had a bit more control with the GL but then I saw that I did not put it on the smallest setting. So that MIGHT be it. I will say this collar will last MUCH longer then the GL. Lucy kinda forgot she hated it when we where walking bc there was so much to see.

We took a LONG fast walk tonight. She HATES it still but will forget about it when she gets in the zone and really hits her pace. I am really working on her not pulling on the lead, so we keep it a pretty fast pace. 

Again I will say the quality is SO much better then the GL. Its solid. This will last for a long time. She did do better when I put it on the smallest setting
