Barkley is HOME :) Third Night Update on page 6

[Alli and Barkley]

OMD no one told me how quickly I would fall head over heals for my new puppy.  We love him like crazy :)  He did amazing on the hour car ride home- slept half the time, whined a tiny bit, gazed happily out the window.  Once getting home he went potty outside, then explored the house.  Within fifteen minutes we gave him some food, and he ate about half.   Played a little, back outside, potty again (WAHOO), repeat.  

 

He is already going up and down stairs (three steps off our porch)- should I be worried?  He seems so young to do that.  He was hesitant when we went outside, and I was about to pick him up to carry him down but, he did it on his own.  

 

He hates his leash- likes to bite it constantly when outside.  I just take it out of his mouth and redirect him.  Hopefully he will start to ignore it soon

 

He loves to be around people, especially my 5 yr old- if Jackson is out of Barkley's sight he whines for him.  

 

Enough of that- here are a few pics.  I'll be back for more if I get time to breathe :)

Oh Alli, I'm so excited for you!  Barkley is beyond cute....oh and puppy breath besides.  That smile on your son's face tells quite a story....I'm thinking they'll be "best buds".  That picture of him sleeping is so sweet.  It's great that you're taking lots of pictures....they grow up way too fast!

Alli - how wonderful for you and your family!  Barkley is so darling, amost as much as your cutie pie son!  Enjoy each day - they grow, change, learn new things every day and they don't stay puppies for long.  Keep us in pictures!!!!!

I kept checking for a post from you that he was home! I love love love your pictures! He is a total doll :-) Jackson is a handsome little guy and what great friends they are going to be. I am so glad it's going so well so far. Hunter did the same thing with her leash and stopped pretty quick, they must think it's just another toy. I can't wait to see more photos and here how it's going, Hunter is even more excited to meet him and Jackson to, she LOVES kids. You couldn't ask for a more perfect dog than a Goldendoodle for a family :-)

Wow, those are adorable pictures. I just showed one of my sons these photos so he could get an idea of what hopefully our little puppy will look like when we bring him/her home. I can't wait. I love living vicariously through everyone else's stories right now.

He is so cute!! Your sin and Barkley!! When Coco came home she was great with the potty too!! Tonight will be tough with the sleeping. Just be strong and don't take him out of the crate or wherever he will sleep! It needs to be in the room with you or it will be a terrible experience! I slept on my futon for two weeks before I brought the crate into my room!! Have a fun rest of the weekend!!

What a sweetie! Congratulations! I wouldn't worry about him and the 3 steps, don't baby him too much, he has to learn "the ways of the world". Stella also bit at her leash when she was little, they will grow out of that, it is just a plaything to them at this point! Have fun and savor every puppy moment you can, it goes by so fast!

Thank you all so much!  He has been sleeping on and off for the last three hours- Every time he stirs and doesn't see one of us he whimpers. He loves his crate thanks to our great breeder who got him used to one, and who gave us a blankie with his mom's scent on it- we put it right in the crate and Barkley climbed right in and went to sleep.
