Some traits a dog passes on to another can be endearing and then there's some .......................

Living in the country in Iowa you can expect to see a snake or two, usually a bull or garter snake and we have more than I care too.  I am scared to death of snakes, but have gotten used to the fact we coexist here on the farm.  Some of you probably already know where this is going and for the rest I will explain.

Clover decided to bring me a gift, yes I said gift, not 1, not 2, but 3SNAKES, all at once.  I thought I was going to have a ....... heart attack.

Now this is something I expect to happen with Apollo.  Apollo learned this from Weiner, which was taught how to do this by my sweet boy Woody.  Woody loved to hunt snakes and I blame this on myself.  When he was 6 months old, Woody caught one and being so proud of himself, decided to bring it to me.  The thing is he didn't just drop it at my feet.  Woody was doing the head shake, let go and it hit me right in the chest.  Of course I screamed because I thought I was DYING from heart failure.  So naturally Woody thought it was a good thing just look how excited mom is.  When Woody taught Weiner and Weiner taught Apollo, it wasn't enough for them to just show each other how to catch a snake.  They actually taught each other it was more fun to toss them at mom.  Over the years I have gotten very, very good at dodging them.

So yesterday when I saw Apollo coming at me being the first one of the year I knew.  Apollo throw it, I moved to the side, turned around and there was Clover.  Not realizing Clover was there, because I was to worried about Apollo, I was caught off gaurd.  When Clover let go, one hit me in the stomach, one on the leg and the other I don't know where it landed.  It took me more than 30 minutes to stop shaking.  I was so drenched in sweat or maybe I peed my pants.  No I didn't pee, but probably could have.

If Clover and Apollo are going to tag team me.  What am I going to do?  I know I need to lose a few pounds, but running from the dogs is not how I would like to get my exercise.

Does your doodle or dog bring you things that make you scream?

Yuck!  Why can't they just bring you flowers or something nice?
Oh my what a story! I too am scared to death of snakes. I live in central PA and have snakes all around. Were the snakes alive? I surely would have died from a heart attack... your doodles are very smart!! Thank you for sharing...
They would get liter box trained and never be allowed outside again if this were my house ....... I don't do snakes.  DH once killed one in our yard in Florida that I had encountered while trimming underneath the fence ...... surprised that I even survived without a heart attack, I wouldn't even let him put it in a trash bag in our garbage can (in the unlikely event it might come back to life).  I made him take it up to Winn Dixie and put it in the dumpster.
Oh, and possibly you need to talk to Gracie Doodles Mom and get signed up for some of that "snake training"!
OMD Tina, That would have been the end of me or the end of those dogs....LOL!  My DH would have found me in the grass dead from fright. Almost anything would have been better than snakes. Glad you survived and lived to tell the tale :)
EEEK!
Im not scared of snakes, but I wouldnt like them to be thrown at me! Are there any dangerous snakes near you? That would be my worry
No, not yet (global warming).  Southern Iowa has rattlesnakes and cottonmouth aka water moccasin.  In the last couple of years the DNR released the massasauga rattlesnake at the marsh about 15 miles from here.  They can survive there, but not many exist.  After Woody showed me his ability to catch them.  I thought teaching him the "hunt em up" command was a great way to get rid of snakes.  Thinking of it today my fear took over and all common sense was gone.  I didn't think about the dangerous ones.
This is too funny. 3 Snakes!  Murphy would be clueless, but my cat kills them and brings them to me.
This is a gift I would not endure. I thought Linday's DS bringing his naughty dog over was a bad Mother's Day gift, but throwing snakes beats it all.

These snakes were dead right? All I can say is....OMD...Don't let Louie ever learn this trick!

My kittys' bring me lots of critters...some alive some not...

YIKES!!!!  omg!!!  I'm so glad this happened to someone other than myself.  I would not be alive had this have happened to me!!!!!! I would have had a heart attack for sure!!!
