So, the other day we went to the mall just like we have been doing for Huff's whole life and apparently he is not allowed. Apparently some little dog bit a customer and they were suing. Now, if I sound like I am overreacting wait until you hear this... Little dogs are allowed but big dogs are not? How does that make sense? It was the little dog's fault in the first place. Why should big dogs have to be banished? I guess that if a big dog were to bite it would be more damage but usually they aren't biters... Am I just being prejudiced? What do you think? You can tell me what you really think. Should big dogs be allowed?

If they are going to ban dogs they really need to include ALL dogs. Big or little if an unvaccinated dog were to bite someone then that bitten person would STILL have to go through the same rabies shots and I hear they are NOT fun! But even a little dog can hurt...and what if it is a child? A small dog could still get in a small child's face!
That is what I am trying to say, either ban all dogs or ban the ones that created the problem?
As someone who is allowed to take Rooney to our FL malls - the outdoor ones - I have to say that this doesn't seem fair.  If dogs are banned then it should be all dogs regardless of size.   I'd stop at the Mall Managers Office - sans Huff and just let them know that you feel the policy is not fair and see if they won't take a listen.
Actually the mall manager (I believe he was the mall manager) came to talk to us and to give us a brochure on dog days of summer that they are having there. I guess so we wouldn't be mad. We didn't complain about it though. I just hate how one dog always ruins it for the rest of them...
I think that's so unfair.  Here in Ireland we are not allowed to take dogs into all malls and shops (except pet stores) I smuggle my Maltese in a bag into all sorts of places and haven't been caught yet.  It's a pity we don't live in places were dogs are allowed.  Unfortunately we have to  pay the price because of other irresponsible owners.  I spend lots of time (well wrapped up) having coffee in cafes where there is out door seating.  Lots of people leave dogs tied outside Malls but there is no way I would ever do that because my Dog(s) would be stolen for sure.
That is funny:) I would not leave my dog outside either. He would be upset and somebody would probably steal him.
I hear you on this one. So many mall stores where I live are "little dogs only" stores, and it really bugs me.
I don't want to offend any people who have little dogs but usually the big dogs are more well behaved I think. It is easy for people with little dogs because they are easier to control but big dogs usually get more training than little dogs I think. No offense.
Sandy I wish I could find the old discussion on this or perhaps it's in a group...?  Anyway LOTS of stores in different towns allow this.  Some Home Depots, some Lowes, some Nordstroms, etc.  And of course in many towns there are some individual (non-chain) stores that are dog friendly.  I wouldn't have noticed which those were until I had a dog myself.

Kohls, Barnes and Noble, Old Navy, Home Depot, Nordstrom, all of those allow dogs where I live. :-)

Some of them are corporate policies (Kohls, Nordstrom) and some vary based on location (B and N, Old Navy, Home Depot).

Here they are allowed in Macys, Nordstroms, Lowes, Old Navy ec etera ec cetera..
