Two in Hattie's litter diagnosed with Parvo

Help! I am totally freaking scared. two puppies from Hatties litter have been diagnosed with Parvo Virus. Hattie seems fine-she had a little runny stools yesterday but I think it was the treats I gave her. none today and they are a soft but formed into stools. she isn't eating much but is very playful. Called my vet and he said test is only true after they have diareha or are throwing up. I am so scared!

Of course she will!!!  She has all of us pulling for her...and there isn't even a diagnosis yet.  Maybe you need a glass of wine and some "Yappy Hour".

Parvo is very serious--there is no doubt--BUT she may have escaped without getting exposed!! I am thinking that if she is showing no symptoms there is reason to be optimistic. However, I would get her to a vet ASAP to see if there are any signs of infection. I am hoping for the very best for you and Hattie!! Puppies do not deserve this--someone back at the breeder's home was careless!

Parvo can also come from shoes of outsiders coming in to visit the litter (especially if those people were at a rest area or a park with dog traffic) or from hands. Did she ask you to remove your shoes and wash your hands before you entered the area where the pups were? Did you see the rest of the litter? And, most important, did you handle the other pups? I am guessing that you didn't--if so, more good news!

According to the website--Pet Education Parvo 

The normal incubation period (time from exposure to the virus to the time when signs of disease appear) is from 7-14 days.   Which means, a week or two ago. 

The first and most common symptom is shown in the stool................. etc.

 

Please tell me your vet will see you NOW and give some more feedback or be able to do some preventative treatments.  If not, call a few more vets for a 2nd Opinion!!!! PLEASE

Found this online--"The severity of parvo symptoms is related to the extend of the exposure. Mild exposure in a kennel or dog show may only result in mild symptoms" So, maybe she was out of there before the virus really got into the litter?

Oh, I know.  Don't worry about the sleeping.  New pups sleep 80 to 90% of the day.  She's going to be okay.
