It would appear that Jack has totally outgrown his puppy stage. He still likes to play with me, he will romp with other dogs, loves his walks and love his weekly outings!!! More recently I have noticed that he prefers to stay home then go to daycare, he sleeps a lot more then ever. He is totally healthy he just went for a full and complete physical.. so it is just the maturing process from puppy hood to adult hood.

He will sleep all day when I am not home, when I am home and there is nothing going on, he sleeps too. On average I would guess he sleeps 16 or more hours a day..

How many hours a day does your dogs sleep????

If nothing is going on, Dex and Kirby are always sleeping.  I swear they are awake only 4-6 hrs a day sometimes.
Too much, I get so jealous!!

Oh gosh, my two are go-go-go most of the day. Maybe because there is always so much going on at our house with our grown kids coming in and out and their dogs and now grandson most of the time. They have maybe one day a week where they seem to "catch up" and don't even get up to meet us at the door. But that isn;t the norm.

As for differences in the two of them, Murphy crashes around 7-7:30 pm every night and a bomb going off hardly would wake him. We have been known to carry him to bed. I know, pathetic. He has always slept great through the night for however long we sleep, but we are early risers most of the time. He has layed around with me or DH if we are sick and in bed all day too.

Now Bella, only 10 months old, but her sleeping habits are much lighter. She wakes if you just whisper her name and she gets up and walks around the bedroom to bathroom many many times at night. She follows me if I go to the bathroom and would probably go outside to play if I let her at 2:00 am. I am hoping she will settle down as she gets older though.

Really don't know how much is too much sleep for dogs either.

Hmm, Sue.... I wonder if it's a male/female thing - lol... Tori is a very light sleeper too during the night.  If someone gets up to go to the bathroom, she's right there investigating.
LOL Shelly, just like men can fall asleep and start snoring in 3 minutes and most women have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. You maybe on to something there. Be interesting to do a little survey.
What a good post, Jennifer! My DH always calls Tori lazy b/c she's always laying around.... now I can tell him she's doin' everything her doodle friends are doin' - LOL When she made the 'switch' from puppyhood to big girl dog, and wasn't so active I used to get worried something was wrong with her and she must not be feeling well. :o)
