So, I've put my deposit down and now I just have to wait. I'll either get a puppy from a littler to be born in August or I'll likely have to wait until Feb, 2012. Problem is, I feel like I've become obsessed with puppies. Anyone else out there who have had to wait for so long? How did you do it?

I've been waiting for almost 1 year now, "c"...if that's any concellation!  Granted there were a couple of times I needed to roll myself over to another expectant litter, but when it was final, it was in February!  But now my puppies are here!  Keep reading these informative forums and gathering information.  There is so much to benefit from and prepare for before you bring that little pup  home!  We'll be anxious to see photos!

I totally know what it's like to wait!  I had my heart set on the mom & dad.  The mom skipped a breeding cycle, so I had to wait forever!  It will be almost exactly one year since I put my deposit down (way before they were ever bred - because I wanted to be 1st pick).  I FINALLY will be picking up my little man Bexter on Wednesday!  I am sooo excited I can't even sleep well!

My husband insists that I am obsessed & crazy!  The breeder has been awesome - I even think she acknowledges that I've waited a looong time.  I did all the things that were already listed - research, reading books, talking to doggie trainers, interviewing vets...anything to keep myself busy.  Of course, also stalking all breeder websites.  It will all be worth it on Wednesday when I'm finally holding him!  Good luck with your wait!  Anytime, you want to talk, just e-mail me!  I understand totally what you're going through!

I put my deposit on Rooney on May 5 and he wasn't born till Aug. 17.  Then we opted to leave him for a few weeks of training so we didn't bring him home till Halloween.  It was very hard and I was obsessed, thankfully the breeder was able to put up with my 10,000 emails - lol.  Spend you time getting your home puppy proofed, buying all the needed items and have fun buying toys and fun stuff.  Spend time learning every thing that you can from DK and then just stalk people on here that have new puppies ;)        Go do everything that you love to do that your puppy won't be able to do with you, golf, movies, etc.  Waiting is part of the fun!  We just sent in our deposit on our next doodle puppy and we have no clue when the breeding might take place!!!  So I know how you feel but it is easier when you already have one.

Hi Jane....just returned from the holiday weekend with no internet and I'm catching up with all my Doodle emails! (Fun!).  So you did it!! You're getting a bro (or sis) for Rooney!  Congratulations!  How exciting!  Are you going through the same breeder?

We have had a deposit since February for a female to be born June 25. It's hard waiting and we will be leaving her with the breeder an extra week because we were first given an expected date in Sept and turns out they will be ready to come home in August, a week before our vacation. I panicked but the breeder was nice and said we can pick her out and leave her an extra week. I know this is going to be hard. I almost canceled our vacation but didn't. Reading everything on this site helps pass the time. Everyone here is wonderful! Time seems slower when we are waiting for something :)

I also need tips on learning to wait patiently!! My doodle baby is yet to be born, with an arrival date in the next month and a come home date at the end of August. I.cannot.wait. :)

Feel free to share what has been helpful to you in your wait!!!! I'm finding myself constantly looking around for puppy supplies, people with doodles, creating lists... and I keep seeing puppies & dogs all over the place, which makes me even more excited/impatient!

Our puppy was born 2 weeks ago.  Come home date is July 10th.  I have 1 dog already, 2 kids (3 if you count my husband!) and a part time job outside the home.  I am so excited too.  The only thing that is keeping me sane is the fact I have to remind myself that July 10th is the date I bring home a baby.  Literally, a new puppy is a baby.Totally have to be ready for the unexpected and lack of routine.  So, that, is the way I keep my sanity.  Good luck keeping yours!

Coleen....my pup was born on May 12th...almost 3 weeks ago and I hope to be bringing him home around July 8th...so we will be going through everything together!  Do you know if you will be getting a boy or a girl?  Is it an ALD or F1/F2?  What color are  you hoping for and what size?
Our puppy was born around that date (sad to say I can't remember exactly what day already until I see the birth certif again).  We can get it (since I don't know if boy or girl yet) after July6th.  I am open to either sex but am leaning towards having a girl since our last 2 doggies have been boys. Our friends are flying up from Florida with them since they ironically are coming up at the same time.  The mom is an SF1 and the dad a mini poodle.  It will be a mahogany colored AMGD.  I just want to eat up every picture and video I see.  I'll be crazy once I know exactly which one is meant for us!  So July 10th will be our delivery date.
Here's my little guy at 3 weeks old.  So excited to see his eyes open!!!  His coat seems to be getting lighter....5 more weeks and counting!!

He's adorable!!!

Thanks Kolleen!  I had an appointment at my hair salon yesterday and I'm telling my stylist all about my expectant new baby....and then she tells me she IS expecting her first ... and she thought I was more excited than her!!!  LOL!
