Okay, I'm a little concerned.  Yesterday Bo took over 2 hours to poop after eating his two meals.  Today pooped when he got up and then ate breakfast at 7:00 am.  Didn't poop after breakfast at all.  He ate lunch at 12:00.  It's now 3:00 and he STILL hasn't pooped.  He's been out half a dozen times and has peed 4 times but still no poop.  He got 1/2 cup of his Fromm puppy food with 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt on it for each meal. Do I need to be concerned?

He would probably poop in the evening, and he should be fine. He is such a beautiful boy!!
Thank you.  I think he's kind of beautiful too.  He has such an amazing coat.  It just so soft, thick and luscious.

It takes an average of 8-10 hours for a dog to digest a kibble meal. Canned food takes about 4-6 hours to pass through the digestive system. So when a dog poops, what you are seeing is not from his last meal, it's from a meal or two earlier.

I would not be at all concerned. If I understand correctly, you've only had him a day or two. He's just been through the greatest changes he will ever experience, (hopefully), and it's going to take a little time for his system to adjust. As long as he's eating, drinkng, peeing and pooping, I wouldn't worry. Dogs don't always poop after every meal, any more than we do.

Yes, I think he'll be just fine. Lola's pooping schedule took a while to settle, and even now it varies. As long as he IS pooping, and it's a good consistency, I wouldn't worry. He looks so soft, I just want to pick him up and nuzzle him!
It probably means that he has a more mature digestive system than some pups.  Ned didn't pee or poop nearly as often as  some puppies.
This is probably nothing to worry about right now. He's adjusting and all pups are different. Our dogs are pretty much on a schedule that we can guess but some days Chloe refuses to go pee! Some days she poops twice some days twice or three times. It'll workout.
Buddy poops first thing in the morning, then maybe in the afternoon ( he eats at 9am and 5pm).  If he doesn't go in the afternoon then he will go before bedtime.  Once in awhile we will go on a morning walk a little bit after he eats and then he may poop again then.  But he is usually a 2 poop a day dog.  I am sure Bo is fine. :)
You are learning quickly Connie how we have all found so much to talk about regarding our doodles Poop!!! Even have a poop group. It's either they go too much, not enough, it's mushy, or watery, or hard, or big or small....the list goes on and on. Not sure what the fascination is with all of us, but we can somewhat read what's going on with them health wise with their output. Bo is just adjusting to so many things right now. He will self regulate as needed. Not all dogs go right after eating.

I get so happy when Buck poops - its kind of sad on my part.

It means - there is less chance he will poo in the house.

He is still on his medication for giardia - so I have become a poop examiner.  making sure its not too runny

Not to be gross - but if the dog in on medication - does it really stink?

also - why do you feed your dog - yogurt with his food?  Probiotic?  should I be?

I agree with everyone else...sounds like he's just getting adjusted and I would not worry. Our Molly is on NO such thing as a "regular schedule" she just goes when she wants...wish I could figure out a schedule, but nope...she always changes up her poop times, lol.

I have never been so immersed in discussions about Doggy doo doo until I came here.  I don't even have my puppy yet and I'm already wondering about consistency, regularity etc etc.... lucky for me you guys are the only ones who know this because if my family or friends knew it would be the men in white coats for me for sure!!!

Ps I love all the new puppies and all of the dogs here.  I know lots of their names, their habits and their funny ways, their strange food likes and dislikes, their naughty ways and their oh so good ways.  Their sicknesses and their health, their allergies and their favorite toys. lol

Funny, nicky!  I didn't find DK til Traveler was almost a year old, and he was my first dog, so I just blundered around, learning mostly from him.  Fortunately, he's always been an easy dog.  In addition, I was retired and able to spend lots--well, all--my time with him.  The list of things I didn't know would boggle the imagination.  I did go online to look for answers to specific questions, and that's how I found DK--looking for information about grooming since my cute little soft-bristle brush didn't seem to be getting the job done on his coat-change self.  It certainly never occurred to me to worry about when he was performing poo duties correctly!
