I don't know if anyone saw Dr Oz today but I have lost some respect for him. He had a segment on Animal Health and I guess they have a new part on their website for this too. But....he is promoting Pedigree!! I almost gagged watching this vet say how good and healthy it is. The funny part was when they put a huge bowl of food in front of an overweight bulldog he sniffed but wouldn't eat it!!!!!

I'm sure Pedigree is one of his sponsors but maybe we all need to send a "shame on you" email to Dr Oz. Doodle owners unite!!!!!!

Since when does being an M.D. make you an expert on canine nutrition??? He definitely deserves a "shame on you" for this one!  I'm sticking with Karen! :)

OMG! Pedigree? Someone needs to send him this video:

Saw this the other day on Susan Thixton's site, she wrote him a letter about it ~ http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/articles/letter-to-dr-oz.html

And Susan doesn't go nearly far enough. She doesn't mention the unnamed animal fat as the 4th most abundant ingredient in this food, which is a risk factor for bloat, in addition to the fact that the source is questionable, and the fact that it is preserved with BHA, a known carcinogen, plus citric acid, which is another risk factor for bloat.

Shame on Dr. Oz!

Sad,sad.
Ugh, that guy is a wackjob!
That isn't the first time he's said something that was STUPID!!

I get my hair permed straight...via Japanese straightening...he did some show on hair straightening and I had a GAZILLION people blowing up my phone, telling me I was going to die and all of this stuff because of my hair straightening. I went and watched the episode and it was on hair straightening, but on a different kind all together (NOTHING to do with Japanese straightening) however... he never really CLARIFIED that, he just kept calling it hair straightening. It gave the Japanese side of the market a really bad name. It really pissed me off because it showed me HOW much he DOESNT do his homework and how much People actually believe him and give him credit....
I hate shows like that all together...if you REALLY want to know about something, RESEARCH it yourself! Don't just take some crazy TV "docs" say. ugh...LOL...sorry, obvious pet peeve of mine.
I agree Lindsey, I watched him for a short time but felt he was over his head and ill informed on many topics. I have some issues with M.D.'s giving advice on natural remedies and treatments anyhow. I feel he is basically practicing Natural Medicine without a license. As far as I know he hasn't attended a Naturopathic College so he should stick to what he really knows and is trained in. Once someone like that gets on T.V. they suddenly become an expert on everything. Even dog food apparently.

It's really sad b/c people look up to Dr. Oz and will think that what he says in the gospel.  I didn't know for a long time that the big name brand dog foods were actually the worst food, and I'm sure most people are the same way.

This should probably be a lesson to us about non-dog food too!  When shows promote dog food or things specific for humans, there is likely a sponsorship going on and not real science.  Luckily we know enough about dog food and nutrition to know that this is total crap, and we should keep this in mind for other advice people spout on TV.

Susan has a good link to write to Dr Oz. Maybe we should all do this. I plan to.

I actually like Dr Oz. He has good suggestions but like anything you take the information given and use what you can to benefit YOU.

Bet you a Pedigree commercial aired once or twice during the show.
I saw it yesterday and was also very surprised that they were promoting that food. Especially since he is so into holistic health. It was really funny that the dog wouldn't eat it, and the vet said, look how he's eating it!!!! IT was kind of embarrassing. I guess we saw another side of Dr. Oz.
If it's sold at Walmart in the dog aisle, don't buy it.  That is my motto and I sure wish a DOCTOR would get that too  :)  He is getting paid clearly.
