HELP! I need a recommendation for a treat dispensing toy.

Cooper has a Tug-a-Jug but is not interested in it http://www.premier.com/View.aspx?page=dogs/products/behavior/busybu...

She has a buster cube, but twice now she has got the inner core out and chewed it. Plus its super noisy on the laminate floorhttp://www.bustercube.com/

Today I bought her a twist and treat, but she is getting too many treats out of it. She can somehow turn it open so they fall out really easy (she can do thing in about 30 seconds) and I cannot close it up tightly due to wrist injuries http://www.premier.com/View.aspx?page=dogs/products/behavior/busybu...

I need a recommendation, Cooper will find something to destroy while Im at work if she doesnt have a treat dispensing toy........

PS shes a standard and id like something that cant be chewed to pieces

OMD! How in the world did she get the inner core out! I can't even get mine out.  It is noisy on tile floors. Some have used the kong filled with frozen yogurt and treats or kibble. Lots of different fillings that take a long time to get out. I do use rawhide which I know a lot of people are against, but it does stop Bella from chewing up the house. I just threw out a 10 ft runner rug that she mauled today, so I know what you mean by leaving something for her.

Thats the funny thing - she has a pork hide bone (more digestible than the regular rawhide) an antler, a bully stick, and a beef bone.... a kong either lasts her no time, or she leaves it to make a melted sticky mess on the floor (she had frozen banana once and got it all over herself, and i had to cut some of it out!).

She still destroys something without a long lasting treat dispenser toy....

Our Lucy is really in to treat toys.  I always leave her with a couple when Sophie and I go off to Therapy Pet visits.  Her current favorite is the Everlasting treat ball. (shown here at moochie and co, the first toy).  You can put these disks in them as shown, but it doesn't seem to take Lucy very long to eat it.  There is actually a place on each side where you can place a disk, but they are a little pricey.  Underneath the disks there are some slots where you can push other treats into the middle of the toy.  The toy is a rubber material that they can chew on, but don't seem to destroy.  If I fill the middle with little treats it seems to occupy her for much longer that the larger disks.

Here is the other one that I like, called the Bob A Lot.  There is a little lot where you adjust for the difficulty in getting the treats out.  Lucy likes this one pretty well also, but she has chewed on the top of it and made it really rough.  When she runs out of treats she just chews on it.

I dont like the ingredients of the everlasting treat balls

Im concerned that with the bob a lot she would get treats too fast

We tried a few different kinds and Chloe as a puppy figured them out so fast that she decided to chew up the toy instead. We gave up on them but I have been looking for new options also so this is interesting. She even ate a kong! Good luck!!

Have any of you tried this one? It says it is quieter. I'm just wondering if it can withstand our dogs "jaws of life".

This one is a possibility I have considered, but i can see the edges being chewed off pretty quick
We use the BIG kong treat/food dispenser. It's not rubber like the small original kongs, but more of a hard plastic that is weighted down on the bottom so it bobbles around. We actually feed our Molly 1 cup of her daily kibble in this toy, it keeps her mind busy :-) It only has one small (kong shaped) hole in the side...so she realllllly has to work at it, bobble it around and flip it about to get food to come out...but she loves it and it would be reallllllly hard to destroy, I don't even know that destroying it would be possible. I will say though...it does make a MESS!! Molly will fling the toy and bop the toy allllll over the floor and sometimes she'll get it spinning so fast it will fling kibble everywhere, she usually gets it all, but then I have tongue prints on our hardwood floors, lol. It can also be noise sometimes...BUT, We LOVE it and I recommend it :-)

Riley is a big fan of DogPyramid, which is manufactured by Nina Ottosson -- a designer of innovative interactive dog toys.  http://www.pawlickers.com/products.manufacturerse/nina-ottosson/dog....

It's unlikely that Cooper can chew on it because of its shape.  Now, it may take a while for certain dogs to figure out how to get the treat out because it has a weighted base.  You can't just roll it around like other treat dispensers because it will always pop upright and the hole for the treats is on the top of the DogPyramid -- think of one of those inflatable punching dolls that always pops back upright when you hit it, and the hole for the treats is on the punching doll's forehead.  Our neighbor's dog gave up after a couple of minutes, but Riley figured it out pretty quickly.  He now has a special technique to get the treats out -- He will push down the top of the DogPyramid, and while holding it down on the ground with his paw, he will roll the DogPyramid back and forth until he finds the hole and the treat comes out.  As long as Cooper is food-motivated (or perhaps use yummy smelly treats), then he should enjoy it.  The hole for the treats is not very large, and I would only use small, hard treats (like liver biscotti or small kibble) because you can't twist open the DogPyramid.   Before I switched Riley to a raw diet, I used to feed his meals (Innova small bites kibble) via the DogPyramid to slow down his eating and to keep him occupied in the morning when I left for work.

Maddie loves the dog pyramid.  I use her regular kibble without.  Sometimes she will play for a good 30 minutes coming and staring at me when she needs more put in the toy.

Dog Pyramid

Impossible to knock down, the Pyramid from Nina Ottosson will always right itself so your dog has to keep working to get the treats out. This toy will provide hours of fun as your dog pushes it around trying to free the treats inside.

I think these ones would work better than the kong as the hole is higher up and therefore more difficult to get treats
