Toy Trouble

[Lynn & Casey]

Casey chews all her toys. No toy lasts more then 30 minutes tops without getting holes in it. We know it's just a phase but we would like to have a toy that keeps her busy but not us picking up the peices! Any suggestions?

Darwin is a toy destroyer too. And with him it isn't just a phase, he's over 2 years old now. :-) We give him antlers, balls, and the  classic red Kong. He doesn't destroy balls for some reason, and his Kong is still completely intact over a year later!

[J and Riley (and Luna)]

Luna destroyed 12 stuffed toy squeakies when she was teething, not to mention many other toys (some of which were destroyed in less than 5 minutes).

Something like this for tug/fetch (No idea what it's called, but very inexpensive and available at most pet stores).  We have been playing tug/fetch every day with this toy (we have 2) with Luna since December... and the most she's managed to do is put a couple dents in it.

Here is a short list of the only toys we buy after learning the hard way:  JW Cuz toys (they last a very very long time and the doodles love them) and Kong toys (although the doodles aren't so crazy about them).  We also keep sterile natural bones laying around for chewing.  We've found that anything else is a waste of money so if we buy anything else we don't expect it to last :)

[Dot, Maggie and KoKo]

I've stopped buying toys.  They can have antlers, marrow bones, nylabones and an occasional tennis ball.  I'm more concerned with KoKo swallowing the remnants of her chewing.  She will eat anything and everything.  She does have Kong toys that she now chews pieces of rubber off and swallows so the Kongs are now gone.  I'm afraid she will need surgery one day given all the things she swallows.  Maggie doesn't destroy toys but can't have them because of her sister, unfair but necessary.

[Allyson, Peri & Taquito]

Well, Peri is over 2 and still destroys all toys. We only have antlers, kongs and the West Paw toys (already suggested here).  Good luck...maybe this will just be a phase for you :) :) :)
