O.K. I met a doodle owner at the pet shop the other day.  He had a lovely 3 year old doodle that was all cream white colored.  He looked at my 13 week old Bella and said "I remember when my doodle used to be apricot colored like yours."  I know doodles can change slightly to a lighter color in the sun, but can they go from Apricot to cream white? In just 3 years?

In just a month.  As a puppy Spud was mainly white.  Then at 5 months Spud had apricot ears, face, paws, and tail.   His sister was all apricot. Once in awhile, like now, I see apricot, then tomorrow he will be all white again.

Yep, they can go from apricot to cream, and they can go from deep chocolate to light beige, and they can go from deep red to apricot, and they can go from black to light silver and they can go...well, you get the idea.
Frances, you may want to check out the group, ' From Pup To Adult', in the group section here on DK and look at all the changes some of the doodles have gone through.

Here is a perfect example of the Apricot to Cream color change:

Melissa's Shelby was almost an identical color to my Sophie when I first met her before she went through the coat change.  Now she is almost all cream.  She has a little apricot on her ears and maybe her tail.  Look at her in Melissa's profile picture and then scroll down and look at the other pictures that are posted of Sampson and Shelby.

Sandy, Hattie is adorable and you take awesome photographs. Her coat has lightened quite a bit, it will be interesting to see what happens.
Also remember that the longer the hair the more it has been exposed to the sun and therefore it is lighter.  If you were to cut Hattie down she would probably darken up a bit.  Though they do get lighter overall as they grow older!  I get asked all the time if I darkened my hair after a haircut.  No, just the old lighter hair was cut off.  I am pretty much in the sun every day so it really does lighten up!
Wow! I knew they could get lighter but I had no idea it could happen so fast! Thanks everyone for replying back..

Check out this group, it shows the change from puppy to adult that many of our dogs have had.

Darwin did lighten quite a bit from when he was a puppy...

Darwin grown up:

Our Murphy's brother was the same apricot as he was until about 4 months old and then he gradually started getting whiter and whiter. Murphy stayed apricot however, and really hasn't lightened or darkened in 2 1/2 yrs. Bella is pure white but every once in awhile I'll see some beige/apricot on her back, but then I give her a bath and it's gone!!!! (We have a lot of red clay soil here in AZ)

This happened to Hudson too. He was more of an apricot color, now he is cream/white. He still has some apricot tips on his head and ears, but you wouldn't really know it. They make him look a bit dirty.

Luca was a real caramel as a pup. Not certain areas remain that color but mostly he's lighter.
