9 days to go and can't pick a name...

Hi everyone,

 

This is my first official post...so bear with me.  We are adopting the chocolate Goldendoodle you see in my profile from a breeder in NY.  She sent an update today that said the vet gave her clearance to send the puppies home a week earlier than expected (after 7 weeks instead of 8).  So, that leaves us with 9 days to figure out a name for her.  We have lots of ideas but this is more stressful than naming our children (and we have 3 boys!).  The breeder has been asking for 2 weeks so she could help her get used to her name, but that didn't happen.  Do you all have names picked out already?  Should we just wait until we meet her?  How did you decide on the name for your puppy?

here are names that we have had for our female dogs over the years. Mocha, Molly, Annie, Tina, Sara, Jake, Maggie..and our new fur baby will be Lilly Belle..have fun

Thanks for the suggestion! We made a decision this morning!!! We are going to name her Liberty Belle and will probably call her Libby (Lib-B)

I just mentioned to MimiLinna... We decided! We had a list of over 40 names. My 3yr old really wants her to be called Pixie, but the rest of us agreed on Libby...actually is will be Lib-B from Liberty Belle. my husband is born July 4 and we got married Memorial Day weekend =Liberty. We saw Beauty and the Beast in NYC the day he proposed = Belle.

I LOVE IT!  Personal meanings for you all over the place!  Wow!  I am impressed you were able to put it all together and be so clever!  Lib B is cute!  Perfect name for the perfect dog!  BTW - we brought Bexter home 7 weeks and he is an almost perfect dog...I know most people say 8 weeks is best, but we had no problems getting Bex early.  Probably just depends on the dog.

Well, it seems Libby (Liberty Belle) was not "THE" name either....  We are still on the hunt and she will be here on Saturday!  ACK!  Top contenders are now: Penny, Pixie (3 yr old's top choice), Zoey (9 year old's choice), Ginger ( 7 yr old's choice) and Malibu.  Malibu is one of my favorite drinks...and Malibu is "COCO" nut rum...so, if she is wackly like my boys it would be a great fit...  Hubby wanted to name her Mallie, so Malibu will get him his wish too...  Let's see if THIS one sticks!

Welcome Amy!  We just picked up our  9 week old ALD last Sunday.  You'll see....love at first sight.  Our breeder also asked for names at 7 weeks and when we went to pick Jackson up at 8-1/2 weeks last Sunday, we drove up to the front of the house where the breeder had him outside romping back and forth.  We got out of the car, squatted down and hollared, "Jackson" and he came running....ears flopping, and tail wagging!  It's not the end of the world if you don't decide before hand, but it is wonderful to have them aware of it when you pick them up.  Now, 5 days into adopting him, we can call him from anywhere in the kitchen/mud room when he's out of sight and he comes running!  Google boys/girls names/ Google different orgins of names - make a list and decide.  BTW, 7 weeks old is so young to be plucked from Mommy and sibblings....maybe you should run this by  your vet for their input.

Glad to hear you came to a decision on naming your furbaby (Lib-B...very cute!).  I am still trying to narrow the list and my mother keeps giving her feedback (which I need to ignore - LOL).  I have it narrowed down to 6 names now, but these are all female (putting all my faith in the fact that I have 2nd pick & am going to get one of the 3 girls of the litter).  Anyhoo...I am sure it will come to me at some point.

I'm going with Teddy Ruxspin as my mini labradoodles name. I used to drag my teddy ruxspin bear around with me everywhere when i was younger, so i thought the name fit. The pup looks like a teddy bear himself!

Mona - I LOVE the name Teddy!  So fitting for a doodle!  I almost named mine that!

We almost went with Teddy also, my DH's pick in the beginning.  Apparently Ted Nugent has a song called Wang Dang Doodle!
