Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Just got our first goldendoodle yesterday. Her name is Bailey and she is 11 weeks old...I think she is a beauty.
So far she is doing great with the potty training. Only 1 accident and that was yesterday when we first got home. Crate training was a little "ruff" last night LOL. she cried for about 20 minutes the first time. then fell sound asleep. She woke up at 130 and I got her up and took her out to potty and she went right away. I put her back in her crate and she cried for 30 minutes this time. I was so afraid she would get over heated that I got up, got a throw and pillow off the couch and layed down on the hardwood floor next to her crate and the little stinker fell fast asleep while I was wide awake on the cold floor.LOL
Hopefully tonight will be a little better. I am giving her a tee shirt of mine that I have been wearing today and an alarm clock that ticks. Putting the clock on the outside of the crate...We'll see what happens..
I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone here at DK....

If you keep her crate close enough so you can reach out and comfort her and have your bed as well. Good luck with you new little baby, she is indeed a little beauty. Welcome to DK, fair warning, it can be addictive.
I agree with the advice of keeping the crate right next to the bed...where you can reach out to her...
She'll quiet down and get used to her new home in no time.
You might want to put a light sheet over the crate...to keep it more "den like" and help with distractions.
They sell special crate covers that roll up on all four sides...so you can adjust the amount of coverage you want...depending upon where you put the crate in the future...the temperature of the room...etc..
Bailey will be sleeping through the night before you know it!
Sweet Dreams...
I also added a fan in the room that was on the floor that made a hum. I covered the crate to make less distractions. I did move the crate to where should could see us the first 4-5 days. The crate now is in the other room. She does stir in the night (like a baby) but does not cry until 6 or so a.m.The first week or two I got up when she needed between 1-3 am to let her potty and right back in crate. After a few weeks she was wanting to sleep between 8 or 9 pm until 6 or 7 am. She does cry when I first put her in but she goes right to sleep. She is now 5 months old and we took a trip and she was able to sleep in a portable crate in 3 different family houses and a hotel in a two week period and did great.
