How big does your doodle grow?

Hey all,

 

Little Georgia just got spayed today. She is doing well, recovering quietly. I wonder how long that will last? LOL.

 

Anyway, our girl is six months old and 32lbs. Her mother is a Golden Retriever and 60 lbs and her father a standard poodle, about 65 lbs. We assumed Georgia would be about 55 or so, but now I am not so sure. She seems to be measuring small for her age.

 

When did your doodle hit their full grown height and weight?

Rua is petite! I am not divulging my stats either. Game over if those are the rules. lol

Cooper was about 50lb at 1 year, we thought she would stay at that and she did for a while, then at a year and a half she shot up to 60lbs. I think they vary greatly, especially the early generations

Nicole - what did Georgia weigh when she was 4 months?  Stuart's mom was a golden and his dad a standard poodle but because of the rescue - we don't have any idea what their sizes were.  Stuart will be 4 months this coming Tuesday and we'll weigh him, double that and then add 5 pds for our best guesstimation.  Rooney the ALD stopped growing when he was about 8 months and has held his weight at 21.5 for the last several months.

Hi Jane, at four months Georgia weighed 22.6 pounds. So if your estimate works, she will be just over 50. It will be interesting to see!

My Kids say I never cared about how big my other Pups were...But they were Purebreeds & I had a good idea what size they would be!

 

They do think I am obsessed with Trixies weight & I am a little bit : )

 

Trixies Parents were Dad-GR 80# Mom SP-40#

At 4 months Trixie was 26.5#   She will be 6 months on Sat -4 days ago she weighed 41#

 

I do love her this Size.  But I also hope she gets to be about 55#  More would not bother me a bit.

I really like bigger dogs too, I am hoping she keeps growing. 55lbs would be good, more is fine too :-)

 

Trixie sounds like she is going to be a big girl, she already has 10lbs on Georgia at 6 months.

Hi Nicole, I can't rememeber exactly, what Kahlua weighed at 6 months.  We wanted a medium sized dog, not to little, but not too big.  I did my research and when I found our groomer we discussed sizes in length.  We were waiting on a litter that would be available in Mar 09, but I was called by my breeder in Dec 08, telling me that a female from a litter born in Oct 08 was available because the first owner wasn't prepared to take care of messes.  Apparently she left this poor pup in it's crate (in the basement) for hours and when the puppy messed up and got "dirty", she didn't like cleaning up after the pup.  She only had the puppy for two weeks!  The breeder was quite upset and drove over 200 miles to pick up the pup.  With that said, when the breeder called and asked if I would look at this pup, I asked what the size of this dog would be.  She informed me that both parents (standard poodle and golden retriever) were both 65 lbs and expected the pup to be about the same.  I was looking for more of a 40 - 50 lb dog, however after hearing that sad story, we decided to at least look at her.  It was love at first sight!  I took her home that night.  Kahlua is now 95 lbs (per vet not overweight, quite the opposite).  From all the blogs I've read on DK and from what I hear from our breeder and others, doodles aren't a breed that you can know for sure what you are going to get.  In fact, from the litter of 8 (I think) two of the pups a boy and my Kahlua turned out to be over 90 lbs, the others were in the 55 - 65 range.  Wouldn't trader her in for anything!

Holy moly! She is an outlier. Lots of Kahlua to love ;-)

Quincy was 22lbs at 4mos so if the formula were to work he should have been around 50-55lbs.

Ok, so Georgia was also 22lbs at four months. We'll see!

jake was 65lbs at 6 months now at 80 lbs at 6 months he hasn't been very active lately I think he was going through a growth spurt I was told he would be around 80lbs full grown.
