Boarding...what do you pay?

I just responded to someone else's blog about losing a nanny job. She was saying that she was losing $300 a week to babysit a "demon". I got to thinking.......I am paying an arm and a leg for Allie to stay at a really nice boarding/ daycare center. Now I am paying extra for a private room with a window and day care every day, but it comes up to $62 a day. Do you think she is spoiled? I was going to pay my niece $300 for the week to stay at my house, but she backed out at the last minute. My mom usually keeps Allie but she just moved and is a little stressed, so I did not want to add to it. Therefore, I was a little stuck. How much do you pay for boarding your doodle? I think I should be afraid to ask.......

We feel very lucky to have found a woman who takes dogs into her home.  The dogs have free range of most of her house...get to sit up on the couch at night to watch TV and get petted and have access to a six acre fenced play yard.   We LOVE LOVE LOVE her and pay $28 per night.   Her day fee is $20.

We pay $20 + tax per dog.  Supplying our own food. We can & do add in a Daily walk for $4 a walk & One on One Play time for $3.

We just paid $273 to board our two Doodles for two nights at their Daycare and we provided the food.  It didn't seem too bad to me because we pay $60 a day for them to go just to Daycare.  This is actually the "going rate" in our area.

Well, I think what is "reasonable" for someone to pay depends on the person. Everyone has different situations, needs, and budgets. We pay 30 dollars per night for boarding, and 20 dollars per day of daycare. (if we pay for boarding the daycare is included in the 30 dollar price) It's a great facility, but we don't pay for any special add ons.

 

We put him in daycare randomly for play, but it's really not very often because we are home a lot, and we can't afford to do it that often.

I pay $19 per dog for my 3 dogs - they share a kennel - more if they were to board alone. $3 extra per day/ per dog to give meds. They provide the food (raw).  It is basic Kennel style boarding - inside kennel with free access to an outdoor run (no TV ...) but they seem happy going there.

Haven't boarded Rua.  Daycare costs $17/day.  I buy a block of 20 at a time to get that price.  She goes twice a week.  Originally I was just going to do Wednesdays, but decided for the extra $73/month it was worth adding another day.  It did have to come from my wine allowance!  LOL

Allie has stayed there before, but she stayed with her sister, Bella. She loves it there and I know she is safe, so I don't mind the expense. I was just wondering if I was insane. I know it is different everywhere, but I seriously thought I would be a laughing stock.

Our local (Los Angeles)  "cage-free boarding" costs $50 a day.  It's doggie day care all day and cage-free sleeping at night. We haven't used it, but our friends have and said it's worth the money and their dog loves it.  I think that there's a discount for multiple dogs.  When we were in Big Bear (rural mountain area) it was only $25 a day.  I think location has a lot to do with it.

When we go on vacation they get the bed & biscuit suite to share with a bed, tv personal outdoor run and we bring our food.

It's $24 a day and $12 for the second dog.
