I just responded to someone else's blog about losing a nanny job. She was saying that she was losing $300 a week to babysit a "demon". I got to thinking.......I am paying an arm and a leg for Allie to stay at a really nice boarding/ daycare center. Now I am paying extra for a private room with a window and day care every day, but it comes up to $62 a day. Do you think she is spoiled? I was going to pay my niece $300 for the week to stay at my house, but she backed out at the last minute. My mom usually keeps Allie but she just moved and is a little stressed, so I did not want to add to it. Therefore, I was a little stuck. How much do you pay for boarding your doodle? I think I should be afraid to ask.......
I live in rural Ontario and we pay $25 per dog per night. This for a regular indoor pen with an outdoor run. They get to go hiking off leash through the bush three to four times a day. They both love to go there and will get out of the car and drag me to the door to get in!!
I refuse to send my Gracie Doodle anywhere where she is in a kennel and gets let out a few times a day. I hate the places that nickle and dime you to death with an extra walk, one on one time, swimming, etc. It sounds cheap but with all the add ons it is insane. I take Gracie to a Dog Ranch which is 4 acres of land in the mountains. A husband and wife with four children run it. At night they all go into a bunkhouse which has pads, elevated beds and crates. The dogs pick where they want to sleep. If the owners insist on their dog being crated then that is what they do. Some want the doors open and some don't. There is a video in the bunkhouse so the family can see them from their house. We supply our own food. At sunrise they take a walk up high on a hill and watch the sun rise. The dogs are free all day (always attended) and Gracie spends all her time in the pool/pond that has a granite boulder waterfall. She runs to the top and drops her ball over and then runs down the side and into the pool to get the ball. She does this all day long. One totally dirty, wet, happy dog...she actually gets to be a "dog" all week. When she isn't entertaining herself she plays with one of the four kids who have fallen in love with her. I pay $45 a day.
I am very lucky to have found a lady who is a petsitter but will watch smaller, well-behaved dogs in her own home. She treats Charlie just like we do, in fact I think she may spoil him even more than I do. She only charges $15 per day.
I pay 50.00 per day for the 2 of mine. They stay indoors with the family, and get lots of attention and love. I provide the food, and they play in her yard with her 2 dogs, it is a big fenced in yrd, but they come in and out as they want thru this adorable doggie door. Now mine had to be taught to use the doggie door, but it was learned in no time, just following her two dogs. Theya re brushed,( and bathed if they get real dirty) before I pick them up, and that is included in the price. Now I just started to use this lady, as I have always used someone else for the last 15 yrs. But she has moved to Ocala, which is 4 hrs away from me, so getting the dogs and picking them up was a hassle. this lady was recommended very highly by people I trust. I paid a lot less with the other sitter, but when I figured in time and gas, it came out to the same, and they are only 15 min from where we live. But even so, it is expensive when you go away for a week, it was $350.00 the last time, but I know it was worth it, for my piece of mind, and when I picked them up, they were happy and bouncing all over.
We pay 36 dollars a day.... I hate boarding.... if we find someone to watch Remington at home we pay them more because I feel like he is getting better care and more comfortable in his home.
We are going to Incline Village this winter. I found a place that is actually very close to where we stay. I reserved a "Royal Treatment" room, which basically gets her at night in an apartment like setting, maybe another dog or two, and two sitters sleeping overnight. In the day she will be with the group with all the playtime. $45.
