Your weirdest sandwich?

As I enjoy one of my favorite lunches - a yummy peanut butter and lettuce sandwich - I am questioning myself.  All due to starting Adina's healthy eating starting Aug. 1., I'm sure.  Is peanut butter and lettuce considered healthy?  O.K. maybe not the bread but it was whole wheat.  I'm the kinda person that could reasonably argue that Milk Duds are healthy - hey - there is LOTS of milk in chocolate and carmel.  I'm probably a lost cost on the weight loss thing with this kind of thinking.  DH thinks my sandwich is repulsive, I say there are weirder combos that peanut butter and lettuce.  So what is your weirdest sandwich?

I use dijon mustard instead of mayo in tuna now.  It's good.

I love butter and sugar in a sandwich, but it has to be soft brown sugar. It would be a special treat at my grandmas when I was a kid.  My sister always had crunchy brown sugar. DH thought it weird but loved it when he tried it. Same with butter and marmite on toast. Love it or hate it!

That's how we eat lefse:  rolled up with butter and brown sugar.  It's the purest way to do it!

 

(If you haven't had lefse you are really missing out.  Just drop into your local Sons of Norway lodge and skulk around looking hungry.  You should get some then. ;-)

Wow - who knew the combos we would get from this discussion!  I'm learning so new ones, some that I might try and well there are some that we can forget about - lol.  I do love cream cheese but I've never had it on a sandwich, I love pickles - sweet & dill.  DH is the mayo guy and I am Mircle Whip - a blended household - lol.

Okay... ready.... as  kid I used to eat Ketchup and butter on toast! The thought of it turns my stomach - now.  Funny though that I now have a son who loves, loves loves ketchup.. he puts it on everything (actually that's the only way I could get him to try a new food - he still is not crazy about meat at all).  I even got him a shirt that says I put Ketchup on my Ketchup!  guess he got my "Ketchup gene" - lol

Oh, here is one sandwich that Adina introduce me to from her "old country" family roots.  ;-)

 

Toast with butter, honey (preferably creamed honey), and hot freshly roasted walnuts.  It is so delicious!  Just roast the chopped walnuts in a dry frying pan until they smell wonderful and then put them on your toast hot.  The honey holds them on.  I prefer to eat these with a side of home canned peaches.

 

That's it... it's lunch time!  I gotta go.

Hi guys ~  Couldn't resist replying to this sandwich!   Okay - not only is it weird, I know, but it's my favourite one of all.  Peanut butter one side,  mayo, onion, cucumber, cheddar cheese & pepper - on Wwheat bread.    There 'ya go!!
