My Doodle startled me awake at 2:30am with loud barks. There was nothing going on so I couldn't figure out what she was barking for. I led her back into my bedroom and closed the door, in case she had heard someone in the hallway of the apartment. But about an hour later she did it again, briefly and then flopped back to sleep instantly. This led me to think maybe she was having bad dreams.

Do doodles dream? What do you think they dream about? Bunnies? Kitties? Other doodles? their families (hopefully she wasn't having a bad dream about me!!)...

Not standing up, when he's laying on his side. :-)  His legs just move back and forth like he's running.
OH! ha! I was having visuals of you running after a sleepwalking doodle. That would be something! :o)
thanks for your replies everyone. All I know is that the noises she makes in her sleep are really cute. I wish I knew what she was dreaming about!
Peri definitely dreams.  I hear her do a low "woof" sometimes and move her paws like she is catching something!

Sunny still "nurses" in her sleep! I think it's because she only had 4 weeks with her doodle mommy and needed more time.

She also "runs" and does little half-woofs and growls. I like to think that she's chasing squirrels and catching them for me!

Brady (13 weeks) our mini golden has never actually barked in his sleep but certainly does quiver, whimper, move his legs in a swimming motion, and the cutest thing ever.... he suckles and it's quite loud...just makes you want to pick him up and cuddle him. (It makes me feel like he's missing his Mama).   Is he dreaming about nursing?   Sweet, sweet doodle-pup!   Am I in doodle love? - completely & utterly over the moon!!!
Sunny never grew out of the "suckling in her sleep"!! She'll be two in a couple weeks and she still does it every couple nights.
Cooper woofs in her sleep occasionally..... sometimes i wake her, when it sounds more whiney than excited woofs
Coco runs in her sleep on her side and she will make a growling whining sound!! Every once in a while she actually barks. That always scares me!!
Lola dreams several times a day!!! I thought it was just a puppy thing until we got Lola, because I had never really seen an adult dog dream before...she gets REALLY into it!!! Paws and legs going, barking, whining, scrunchy nose, it's hilarious!!!

Luna runs a little bit in her sleep, and woofs with her mouth closed... as you can imagine it doesn't work very well and comes out as a very entertaining "mmoofph".

She also whines sometimes while she's "running" in her sleep - when she does this when she's awake she is chasing someone (or a dog). I imagine she is dreaming about a wonderful game of chase :)

This happens with Basil a lot. As a terrier mix he is a ratter.  I think he is chasing bunnies and chipmunks.  and perhaps in his dreams he is actually making contact - which he thankfully can't quite manage when he is awake!
