My Meggie I like to think has such good manners.  However, when my nieces who range from 2-6 come over and run around she likes to chase after them and try to "hump" them.  I understand they are about the same size as her and she is showing her "dominance".  Last night we had our bible study group over for a BBQ and she tried to "hump" someones little dog......then the rest of the night go over to people and try and hump their legs!!  We got a couple good laughs, but after a bit it was embarssing and had to put her in another room.  I mean this was bible study and was meant to be G or PG, hee....hee!

Just wondering if it's the excitment of people or HOW we can get her to stop!!  She did this to my nephew one day and he was running around the house crying "I don't want to have puppies, get away".  Funny to a point, annoying after a while~

Sorry...just reading the title made me laugh...this is my post from almost 7 months ago.  Thank goodness she never did the "Hoochie Dance" on someone's leg...just her stuffies!

She looks way to sweet and innocent to be a "humper".

I really don't know what makes some do and some not do....Daisy has NEVER humped anything let alone a 2-4 year old...OMD.

I am sure someone here on DK can give you some pointers though, good luck!

Sunny humps me if I pick her up like a toddler and try to balance her on my hip. I think it triggers her by touching her belly/crotch region the wrong way.

HasKami been spayed? I don't know if that would really make a difference since it's probably dominance, not hormones.

This is unrelated, sort of, but I once had a Cookie Party and our big, fat cat scooted her fanny clear across the living room floor in front of all the guests. I said, "I guess the litter box is out of toilet paper," but I wanted to kill that cat...LOL. How old is Meggie?
Laurie if I ever need to laugh out loud I just have to read what you write, if for no other reason I would come on this site just for your comical relief..

OMG, that was a good laugh.....I can imagine that was embarssing!  Meggie two and we are guardian parents to her, so cant have her spayed for two more years.  I really think it is a dominace issue, we are working with a trainer who said she definetly was acting like the "pack leader" and once she realizes that she isn't anymore, hopefully that will go away too!

Stuart was trying to hump us when we first got him - all 7 lbs!  I never thought it was funny or cute - I don't want my dog humping my leg and I really wouldn't want someone elses dog - no matter how cute - to do it either.  It is a dominance thing and should be stopped with a "Off" and a shove down.  If that doesn't work - then a time out.  It didn't take Stuart very long to get the message that we didn't like his behavior.  I'm glad he got it because he is already 27 lbs and going to get bigger.  Good luck!!!
I don't tolerate the humping,. When Jack was a little puppy he sometimes tried to hump things and on some occasions people, He was always quickly corrected with a firm no. No excitement, no emotion, just a firm no with a leash correction. To me, I will not tolerate Jack showing signs of dominance.. That is just me.
Is this bitch spayed? What type of Doodle is she?
What a little mischief maker. Sophie Bear did this too, to her toys, and only once tried it with my leg. Thankfully never with children or other dogs. I think if you keep telling her no, then she will eventually stop. She's just trying to figure out what her place is.
Do you all say NO when they just hump their toys?  Bexter did hump us, but now has since moved on to his girlfriend (err...snuggle puppy).  Should we say NO to that too?  I guess I was just grateful he stopped humping US!
